Showed the benefit of his initial start when taking a Musselburgh bumper ; that didn't take much winning though and he shoulders a 7lb penalty here. Still the only bumper winner the yard have had this season (1-21) they are 4-19 here overall.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: Steven Fox(5)| T: J Ewart
7/1
Yard yet to have a bumper winner this season (0-14), they are 2-21 overall at this track. Shaped with promise on his only start so far when with Paul Nolan before being sold for £20,000 and makes his debut for this yard; makes some appeal.

5/4
Stable always to be respected with their bumper runners (4-13 this season; 10-33 here overall). This debutante is a very interesting runner being a €90,000 half-brother to Champion bumper winner Relegate; one to watch and respect in the market.

10/3
10-1 when a sound enough third in a Punchestown bumper last November (beaten 18L) behind two better-fancied rivals. Trainer yet to have a bumper winner in Ireland or GB in the last five years but not left out of the equation.

Trainer not really known for bumper winners; 2-58 in the last five years and this son of Bahri showed very little on his debut at Newcastle. Can only be watched here on the back of that performance.

Tapenade10
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-4| J: S Bowen| T: G Elliott
8/1
Hard to ignore despite a fairly modest/unexciting pedigree coming from a top stable although his debut was only modest (finished fifth of 7 at Fairyhouse). Not seen to best effect there (hampered home turn); yard have a 26% strike rate in GB bumpers.

Age: 6|  Weight: 10-11| J: Sam Coltherd(5)| T: W Young Jnr

Point-to-point form reads 0-3 with the last two efforts being non-completions. Led until halfway on debut but quickly dropped away and makes little appeal on her second bumper start.

Red Reminder
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-11| J: Sean Quinlan| T: C Grant
50/1
Pedigree contains plenty of stamina (dam half-sister to staying chaser Samstown) but likely to need this debut run and a stiffer test in the future. Not totally written off; yard have had two bumper winners here but positive markets signals needed.
9
Horse silk
Kaizer15
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-7| J: Henry Brooke| T: A C Whillans
33/1
Flat-bred gelding who has so far only shown poor form in two bumpers starts although he did show a little more on his second outing than on debut. Others have a better profile though with the yard 1-54 in this sphere in the last five years.
10
Horse silk
33/1
Pedigree contains plenty of hope (half-brother to five winners) but his debut at Carlisle (1m6f, good) contained very little promise. Yard have a reasonable bumper record overall and are 3-11 at this track; others appeal more though.

Forecasts

Glenduff (5/4), Mam Trasna (10/3), Yes No Maybe So (11/2), Fostered Phil (7/1), Tapenade (8/1), Lastofthecosmics (33/1), Kaizer (33/1), Red Reminder (50/1), My Son John (125/1), Galahill (250/1)

Verdict

Don McCain took a division of this bumper last year with a newcomer but he relies on the only winner in the field this time with his Yes No Maybe So having taken a modest event at Musselburgh and now has to carry a prohibitive penalty. The two Irish raiders Mam Trasna and Tapenade have to be respected although neither has shown form that would have you rushing to back them. Fostered Phil is another who has so far run his only race in Ireland before making his debut for the Ewart yard here and he’s likely to show more this time around. Nicky Richards can do little wrong of late and his €90,000 debutante GLENDUFF looks to be the pick of this bunch despite lacking experience.
