Mixed form in his first three starts but showed improvement on first run since gelding operation when a good second on handicap debut over this C&D. Looks to be on a generous mark and likely to go close.

Caught the eye running on at Wolverhampton over 7f and ran to a similar level when third at Newcastle over the same trip. Did his best work late off a slow pace and should be suited by this distance. Stable in hot form and top rider booked.

Kodiac colt cost 100,000 gns as a yearling and showed ability on first two starts but was disappointing next at Windsor last June. Makes AW debut following absence and possible step up in trip will suit but needs to bounce back on handicap debut.

Sole win came on her second start over 7f here but form has been very inconsistent since. Stable in good form but very disappointing over this C&D last time and looks unreliable.

Forecast

Kentucky Kingdom (10/11), Spirit Warning (11/4), My Dear Friend (10/3), Spirit Kingdom (25/1)

Verdict

There’s unlikely to be a shortage of pace judged on previous racing styles so it’s worth treating this as being run at a true pace despite the small field. Spirit Warning is arguably the one to beat from his handicap debut but with the stable in such good form and the leading jockey booked, there is the likelihood that KENTUCKY KINGDOM will find the necessary improvement off his opening mark. My Dear Friend and Spirit Kingdom need to return to their early best.
