Disappointed last time on Fibresand (run well on the surface before) and it may well be that a busy spell had caught up with him. Not given much of a break though and this mark looks rather stiff as he returns to a course where he is 0-4.
C&D winner who was in grand form last year clocking up seven wins in total early in the year. Has offered little since returning to action off the back of a mid-year break although his climb in the handicap has made life more difficult.
Had the worst of the draw at Chelmsford last time and still produced a more than creditable run over 7f off a 1lb higher mark. That was a useful handicap he ran in last time and should be able to make his mark around here (course debut).
Not run here before and more generally seen over sprint trips but had his first try over 7f last time (stable debut). On a long losing run and now slipped to a mark 8lb below his last winning one; back from a break and not totally written off.
Took back-to-back 7f Wolverhampton handicaps in the early part of last year on his transfer to this stable from Denis Quinn but was then only seen once more. Now returns from a break for his course debut and likely to need this.
Drop into 0-75 grade last time saw him return to form over C&D coming from off the pace and given an intelligent ride by today's rider. Has struggled in this company before though and will struggle to follow up despite only being raised 2lb.
Good form last year with five wins to his name with one of the quintet coming over C&D (all others at Wolverhampton; latest last month). Has run two respectable races since his last win (only seventh last time to Kodiline; caught wide); shortlisted.
Quirky customer who is hard to win with; never won off a mark this high. Does have placed form to his name around here with his latest C&D effort seeing him caught close home after a positive ride but that probably sums him and his attitude up.
May well have been unsuited by Fibresand last time when failing to build on a promising first run over 6f here on his first run for this yard. This is slightly harder than his previous outing here but the 7f may well help; yard is in cracking form.
Forecasts
Critical Thinking (7/2), Kodiline (7/2), Florencio (5/1), Highland Acclaim (11/2), Robero (6/1), Murdanova (9/1), Smokey Lane (9/1), Spare Parts (16/1), Red Cymbal (20/1)
A good race for the grade that sees three of today’s protagonists take each other on again with Kodiline having got the better of Highland Acclaim last time with Critical Thinking who didn’t get the best of runs back in seventh. Those three should all have their part to play again along with Florencio whose Chelmsford last time out run reads well in the context of what he had to do from his wide draw. Smokey Lane has slipped to a mark he ought to be capable off but a chance is taken with RED CYMBAL. The David Griffiths yard have really found their feet of late (four wins from last five runners) and this recent recruit from the Haggas barn could well be better than he’s shown so far.
- Red Cymbal
- Florencio
- Critical Thinking
