Steadily improving and already has a hurdles win to his name. Interesting that he's kept to race like this rather than a handicap and sound claims despite having to give weight away as the only previous winner in the race.
Posted a better effort last time but still only stayed on past beaten horses to claim a well beaten third place finish. More required here.
Carries a hefty price tag but was well beaten on debut in a Southwell bumper. Hard to recommend on that evidence and needs to step up considerably now he goes over hurdles.
Modest on the Flat in France and had a wind operation before joining his current yard. Plenty to prove after three poor efforts in this sphere so far.
Taken well to hurdles and looks worth a try at this trip after being outpaced over 2m4f last time. Yard highly respected and back among the winners lately. Worth considering.
Has a choice of entries this week and his in-form yard is obviously keen to get another run into the gelding. One to monitor closely in the betting after posting a reasonable effort on his return at Exeter last month.
A three-time winner on the Flat and has taken well to hurdles; his last two starts have been highly encouraging. Solid claims is he's able to turn the crank another notch or two.
Solid effort to finish second on his debut in a course bumper in November but the winner has been well beaten since and the form may not be the most reliable yardstick. Still worth a betting check on jumps debut.
A maiden on the Flat and well beaten in both previous starts over hurdles. Plenty to prove at present.
Poor levels of form on the Flat and no obvious sign of relishing the task when the gelding was swept aside on hurdles debut at Wincanton at the start of this month. Hard to recommend.
failed to complete in four of her six starts over hurdles and well held the other times. First-time headgear looks to be a throw of the dice. Best watched.
Carries poor form over from the Flat and didn't make much of an impact when racing towards the rear of the field at Taunton last time. Big improvement needed.
Forecasts
Nordic Combined (5/6), Colonel Custard (7/4), Musical Slave (10/1), Milanstorm (11/1), Eva's Oskar (16/1), No Rematch (25/1), Press Gang (33/1), Khairagash (66/1), Karakoram (100/1), Global Rhapsody (100/1), Chica Rapida (150/1), Red Emperor (150/1)
This could be a good opportunity for NORDIC COMBINED to get off the mark over hurdles. The gelding sets the standard here and will be hard to master if taking a step forward. Colonel Mustard is the only previous winner in the race and has to be respected accordingly. His 6lb penalty makes life tough though. And a bigger threat may be posed by Milanstorm, who shaped as if he will appreciate a drop to this sort of trip last time out. Musical Slave has several entries this week and is another to monitor in the betting.
- Nordic Combined
- Milanstorm
- Colonel Custard
