Dual chase winner had some stern tests of late over fences and last two seen him fall in the BetVictor at Cheltenham and pull up in the Caspian Caviar Gold Cup there. Sights lowered here and surely big player off this mark.

Four-time chase winner although now close to two years since most recent. Started season with C&D second of three and since been third of nine at Ludlow so seems in good enough order and is 9lb below last winning mark.

Already won three times this season (five starts) with wins at Chepstow, Exeter and Hereford last time out. Stays well, enjoys a sound surface and has won off higher marks in the past so hard to envisage anything but another bold bid.

Won four of last five over hurdles including two this season. Beaten 25L here on chasing debut over C&D in a novices handicap where he made some late headway. Better to come but tough ask against seasoned chasers.

Forecasts

Romain De Senam (11/10), Fox Appeal (9/4), Still Believing (5/1), Marble Moon (5/1)

Verdict

This represents a huge class drop for ROMAIN DE SENAM and with his handicap mark now 4lb below his last win he surely has to have a big chance with the step up to 2m7f not likely to be a problem (won 2m5f). In form Still Believing represents the main danger and Evan Williams mare will likely try to make this a stern test with stamina her strong suit having won over 3m1f latest. Unexposed Marble Moon would be competitive if reaching the heights of his hurdle form.
