On the book is held by Peters Cousin on course form (2m, good) from November; took a small step forward here on her second hurdles start and could fare better over further (related to 2m4f-2m6f winner Boy In A Bentley).

Bought for 10,000gns in October 2018 as a three-time winner on the Flat in France; in contention (3L down) when falling at the last on hurdles debut at Catterick (2m, good to soft) 11 days ago; up in trip.

Bought for £20,000 after winning on PTP debut at Bartlemy (3m, soft) in May 2018; raced prominently until weakening from the second last on rules/stable debut at Haydock (2m7f, soft) last month.

Cost £175,000; pushed out to score by 5L on debut for this trainer in a Warwick bumper on New Years Eve 2017 before a fine effort (second) in a Listed bumper at Sandown in March; found a weak race for belated hurdles debut.

€3,800 3yo; seventh foal from an unraced dam (half-sister to the 2m chase winner Music Please); highly unlikely that she'll be sharp enough in order to play any constructive part here.

Forecasts

Queens Cave (1/14), Hidden Dilemma (7/2), Peters Cousin (5/1), Lady Kyria (6/1), Jessiemac (10/1), Leverock Lass (25/1), Stormy Reception (25/1), Retrace (33/1)

Verdict

David Pipe hasn't sent too many runners (3-21; 14%) on the mammoth journey from Devon to Ayr over the past five years, so look no further than the hurdles newcomer QUEENS CAVE. Despite meeting a couple of mares who have already won over timber (Hidden Dilemma and Peters Cousin), this race represents a golden opportunity for this expensively purchased 6yo mare. Her Sandown Listed bumper form from March 2018 is the strongest on offer by some considerable way and she can defy the hindrance of a 300 day plus absence.

  2. Hidden Dilemma
  3. Peters Cousin
