Age: 7|  Weight: 11-12| J: T Scudamore| T: N P Mulholland| OR:  118
4/1
Ran a fine handicap debut (from a stiff looking mark) at Cheltenham when 4th over a 4f further trip than she faces today. Remains on the same mark here with the sights lowered somewhat; now matching the promise she showed in bumpers.

Love Lane32
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-9| J: Mr Jason Dixon(7)| T: Henry Oliver| OR:  115
4/1
Dual winning hurdler already from just five start scoring last time out on her 3rd start in a handicap at Market Rasen (2m, soft). Given a break since then and now returns off a 5lb higher mark; travelled well last time and must be respected here.

12/1
Showed a good attitude to score for the 2nd time over hurdles In May (found for pressure) but has been well beaten on her last two starts since returning from a break. Remains just above her last winning mark; would need to recover her old form.

Empreinte Reconce35
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-6| J: Aidan Coleman| T: C L Tizzard| OR:  112| BF
9/2
French bumper winner (on debut) who also scored on her first start over hurdles in the summer (well backed) but a fortunate winner; both 2nd/3rd subsequent winners. Form hasn't progressed though; now into a handicap for the first time; watch market.

Little Folket201
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-6| J: Max Kendrick(5)| T: Mrs N S Evans| OR:  112| D
66/1
Makes her debut for this yard (previously with Henry de Bromhead) having shown only modest form so far in two handicaps over the summer on better ground than this. Has won over hurdles (bred to stay further); may be worth noting a market move.

Sea Story29
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-6| J: David Bass| T: K Bailey & M Nicholls| OR:  112| BF| D
11/2
Dual bumper winner (fairly useful form) who hasn't quite progressed as expected over hurdles (beaten favourite twice). Possibly failed to see out the trip last time (2m4f) and now makes her handicap debut dropping back to 2m; chance on bumper form.

Field Exhibitionh8
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-5| J: R Johnson| T: G Harris| OR:  111
5/1
Subject of an injudicious ride last time out (jockey suspended 14 days) having been in good form prior to that run winning handicaps at Warwick/Uttoxeter. Both of those wins came over further; capable off this mark with champion jockey booked.

Kestrel Valleyh31
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Stan Sheppard(3)| T: M Sheppard| OR:  106
12/1
Looks to be learning slowly over hurdles and popped into a handicap last time after just two novice runs. May well have needed the run on that occasion although finished a creditable 3rd after making the running; same mark here, respected.

Annie Bonny26
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: Adam Wedge| T: Evan Williams| OR:  105
14/1
Had shaped with some promise in her qualifying runs but proved to be a disappointment on handicap debut over this trip at Leicester (did too much too soon in front). Now has something to prove (dropped 2lb); be better over further.

Horse silk
Lady Chartreuse28
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Charlie Deutsch| T: Miss V Williams| OR:  104
16/1
From a stable in fine form this will be her handicap debut having shown only modest form in this sphere so far. Produced her best effort so far last time (made running) when 2nd (beaten 11L) at Lingfield (2m, heavy); more chance in this company.

Forecasts

Love Lane (4/1), Queen's Magic (4/1), Empreinte Reconce (9/2), Field Exhibition (5/1), Sea Story (11/2), Kestrel Valley (12/1), She's Gina (12/1), Annie Bonny (14/1), Lady Chartreuse (16/1), Impulsive Leader (25/1), Little Folke (66/1)

Verdict

A competitive opener to the card with several that would be of interest headed by QUEEN’S MAGIC who appeared to take a marked step forward last time at Cheltenham and should be able to cope with a drop in distance here against lesser opposition. Love Lane is worthy of respect on what she’s shown so far and any money for Empreinte Reconce would be worth noting in her handicap debut. Anything that Venetia Williams runs in handicaps at the moment is hard to ignore and that makes Lady Chartreuse worth considering while connections of Field Exhibition will be hoping she gets a more pro-active ride than she did at Taunton last time with Kestrel Valley another to enter the mix.
  1. Queen's Magic
  2. Field Exhibition
  3. Love Lane
