Took a step forward form-wise when second to the useful Ballyhill at Aintree last time out, and gave the impression a switch to a right-handed track might help his cause even further. Conditions look fine and should be capable of challenging.

Jumped well when winning on chase debut at Kempton in November but backwards steps since, well beaten by the useful Knocknanuss at Newbury and then unseating early on here last time. On a recovery mission now, and could do with a clear round.

Midnight Maestro25

Useful enough over hurdles but never really fulfilled his potential, and a moderate chase debut at Uttoxeter (where he made a few mistakes) means that he has got a bit to find with some of these.

Took advantage of others performing well below par in a three-horse affair at Doncaster latest but has always threatened to make a better chaser than hurdler anyway, so not to be underestimated.

Useful hurdler that has had two chase starts so far, possibly not to blame for his unseat at Exeter last time (hampered, still in with every chance) and given he's shown a liking for this track (win and a place from three starts) is one to consider.

Has the size to make a chaser, twice this season has travelled well before cutting out late in the day and gives the impression there's better to come. With a top yard and as this trip/ground seems to suit, no surprise if he was on the premises.

Enola Gay29
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-8| J: G Sheehan| T: Miss V Williams| OR:  118| BF
5/1
Consistent if a touch hard to win with (1-12 so far) but jumped soundly when runner-up at Sandown latest and seems to be improving. Yard banging in the winners now as well and from the right end of the handicap, should go well.

Forecasts

Molineaux (4/1), Enola Gay (5/1), Caltex (5/1), The Dellercheckout (5/1), Kupatana (5/1), Barton Knoll (6/1), Midnight Maestro (8/1)

Verdict

A tricky race to solve, with none of the seven ruled out. ENOLA GAY might be the one after a decent Sandown effort where his solid jumping put him in good stead. A similar effort here and he holds every chance for a yard that can do little wrong now. Thedellercheckout needs to dig in a bit better at the business end but the talent is clearly there and fences might be the making of him. Kuptana needs to bounce back after a couple of middling efforts, and both Caltex and Barton Knoll might be bigger dangers.
  1. Enola Gay
  2. The Dellercheckout
  3. Caltex
