Down Royal bumper winner could only finish fourth as an odds-on favourite on hurdles bow at Thurles over 2m6½f on good to firm. Seemed to get tired there but likely strip fitter now and expecting him to go close here.

Smart bumper performer ran with significant credit on hurdles bow here over 2m when third to smart performer Getaway Katie Mai. Bred to relish this step up in trip so has obvious claims now.

Plugged on at the one pace on debut when ninth of 11 at Limerick less than a week ago. Not had time to progress enough to be involved here.

Maiden point-to-pointer beaten 61L and 63L in maiden hurdles to date. Better chance in handicaps after this.

Newcomer by top sire Scorpion is a half-brother to three winners, two of them over hurdles. Cost €50,000 and joined top and in-form yard but Rachael Blackmore usually gets the pick and is aboard Mormon.

Completely tailed off in a Wexford bumper in October, his lone start. Represents a yard without a winner this season and that unlikely to change here.
7

Fourth in a Gigginstown benefit on debut (first five home) under rules before finishing third of 16 latest although a couple ahead of him fell late on. First string of in-form and prolific yard so has to be respected.
8

6/1
Harbour Watch filly, runner-up in a maiden hurdle at Listowel in September on testing going, winner on Flat since before finishing fourth to top bumper performer Relegate at Naas (beaten 21L). Place claims here.

Finished sixth of 13 on hurdles bow at Thurles and since ran at a similar level when eighth of 29 at Navan. In good hands so likely more to come but up against it here.

Unplaced over hurdles so far although latest fifth of 17 at Limerick when stepped up to 2m3f was an improved effort. Further step up here in his favour so has place possibilities although more exposed than most.
Beaten 39L into ninth of 20 at Naas last month. One of three for leading trainer and expecting improvement now but surprise if he makes the frame.

Age: 5|  Weight: 11-1| J: F J Hayes(7)| T: P Fenton
100/1
Unplaced in five point-to-points although last run was an improvement. First race under rules here and big surprise if he manages significant involvement.

8/1
Rare bumper flop for this yard as he finished 13th of 14 at Fairyhouse when completely tailed off from 4f out. Sure he can improve with time and now over hurdles but hard to suggest him after that run.

66/1
Good third in a July bumper at Limerick but yet to build on that over hurdles and pulled up before three out last time out at Cork. Easy to pass over for now.

Forecasts

Mormon (2/1), Cordovan Brown (9/2), Duchess Ravenwaves (6/1), Dont Go Mad (6/1), Stones And Roses (8/1), Moratorium (10/1), Insult (12/1), Apocalypse (20/1), Everyone's Invited (25/1), Golden Glen (66/1), Classic Escape (80/1), Buttevant Boy (100/1), Scaramucci (100/1), Lahloob (100/1)

Verdict

CORDOVAN BROWN was second at Listed level in bumpers and showed she could manage a similar level over hurdles first time up when chasing home an odds-on Grade Two winner in third only beaten 10L. She is bred to appreciate this longer trip so gets the vote here. Moratorium possibly did a bit too much too soon on hurdles debut and he is fully expected to prove a different proposition here. Mormon has finished fourth and third so far and should once again be involved here.
