10/3
Incurs a 7lb penalty for beating Kingofthecotswolds by ¾L over C&D in May (good); promising type who is clearly well suited by this track and may have more too offer on seasonal reappearance.

Allonok78
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Bridget Andrews| T: D Skelton| BF
10/1
Half-brother to the bumper winner Odello; tailed-off on debut at Chepstow in October (9/2jt fav) but given plenty of time off since, and no real surprise if he's far better than that showing; others still preferred.

Babochoff
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-0| J: S Bowen| T: M H Tompkins
28/1
A late appearing 6yo (who will turn 7yo in 24hrs); dam was a versatile type, a 7f to 2m Flat winner; very surprising if he's the solution.

No joy in PTP's, failing to complete in all four starts (USPF), including at Buckfastleigh (2m4f) 43 days ago; switched to Brian Barr for rules debut; tongue-tied.

Kim Bailey has done relatively well with his bumper horses this season (2-14; 14%), and this 4yo gelding remains a work in progress; a realistic contender based upon his keeping on Ascot (2m, good) fourth to Emitom two months ago.

€54,000 3yo; second foal out of the bumper/2m4f hurdle winner She's On The Case; trainer is 7-24 (29%) in bumpers this season, so worthy of close market inspection; likely type.
€14,000 vendor foal; fourth foal who is a half-brother to the bumper winner Hazel Brook; produced with a winning challenge on debut at Uttoxeter (2m, good) in November, but ultimately no match for subsequent Southwell scorer Umbrigado (D. Pipe).
€16,000 foal, €38,000 3yo; ninth foal; half-brother to five winners including Corkage and Holly Bush Henry; one to note in the market, albeit with improvement longer-term most likely.

Bred for chasing (dam was the 3m-3m1f winner Earcomesannie); predictably has started at huge odds in bumpers so far, including over C&D in mid-December; no chance whatsoever against these rivals.

Forecasts

The Macon Lugnatic (5/2), Nobby (10/3), Zulu Dawn (4/1), Fubar (9/2), Mr Woody (11/2), Allonok (10/1), Babochoff (28/1), Classy Afair (66/1), Clondaw Whisper (100/1), Earcomesali (100/1)

Verdict

An interesting bumper which will surely fall to one of the following four horses; Nobby, Mr Woody, The Macon Lugnatic or FUBAR. This quartet all hail from leading stables, and with the exception of the intriguing Nicky Henderson-trained newcomer have already achieved a solid level of form, with Nobby being a C&D scorer. Fubar is a work in progress, but Kim Bailey has some above average bumper horses this season (including Mr Grey Sky) and the forecast conditions are nigh perfect for this returning 4yo gelding.
  1. Fubar
  2. Nobby
  3. The Macon Lugnatic
