Set some difficult looking assignments over fences so far (0-3), albeit hasn't necessarily covered himself in glory either; still very early days, so expect this soft-ground 2m winning hurdler to step forward at some point imminently.

The Dubai Way45
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: Harry Bannister| T: H Whittington| OR:  120| D
7/4
Useful hurdler (3-4), and a winner on his last two visits to the North East in late 2017 - Hexham and Sedgefield; solid fifth to Awake At Midnight (beaten 4L) on his second chase start at Chepstow (2m, good to soft); much respected.

Ca Le Ferrah23
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-3| J: Steven Fox(5)| T: J Ewart| OR:  115
20/1
Back from 20 months off the track with a recent spin over hurdles at Ayr (2m, heavy); remains a maiden after eight starts (shown reasonable form), and although bred for fences as a half-brother to Sa Suffit would rate as a surprising winner.

Le Frankt31
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: Henry Brooke| T: Miss Lucinda V Russell| OR:  110| D
3/1
Sizeable, scopey sort who is very much built for chasing; made no mistake on his second start over fences when beating subsequent Hexham winner Echo Express by 8L at Hexham (2m, soft); can follow up despite a 10lb rise.
5

Temple Man399
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-7| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: Ruth Jefferson| OR:  105| D
7/1
Has always rated as a promising type but despite some initial setbacks in bumpers took a 2m Kelso maiden hurdle (good) by a nose in October 2017; off the track for 13 months following a subsequent fall; fair mark for chasing debut.
6
Horse silk
Mr Kit Cat436
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-4| J: Ross Chapman(3)| T: R Ross| OR:  102| D
33/1
Sold cheaply by Evan Williams (£2,000) in May 2018 and rates as far more exposed than the majority of today's rivals; makes his debut for Russell Ross off a 436 day absence.

Forecasts

The Dubai Way (7/4), Treshnish (9/4), Le Frank (3/1), Temple Man (7/1), Ca Le Ferra (20/1), Mr Kit Cat (33/1)

Verdict

An interesting race with a number of these horses surely capable of winning races over fences, including the slow learning Treshnish and the fairly weighted but returning to action chasing newcomer Temple Man. However, the form horses in the line-up are The Dubai Way and LE FRANK. The selection faces a much sterner test than when scoring with ease at Hexham last month, but that form does have substance and this embryonic chaser can defy the subsequent unwanted attentions of the handicapper (now 10lb higher).
  1. Le Frank
  2. The Dubai Way
  3. Temple Man
