Gelded son of Nathaniel who fetched 45,000 gns as a yearling but needs to find improvement on three moderate runs to date. One to watch on handicap debut.
Front-runner remains a maiden after eight starts. Ran well in first-time cheekpieces at Chelmsford but they failed to have the same effect at Lingfield. Possible drop in trip was against her and could bounce back if taking to fibresand.
Acts on this surface and clearly well handicapped based on old form but has really struggled to make any sort of impression in five starts for new yard and hard to make a case for at present.
Made all for a breakthrough success at Chelmsford and remains on a potentially good mark at just 2lb higher. Shaped as though the drop to 7f was against him at Kempton and should have more to offer at this trip. Leading hope on course debut.
Twice a winner at Wolverhampton last year but after a lengthy absence has raced poorly in four starts this time around. More needed on first run here.
Forecasts
Side Effect (7/4), Mans Not Trot (15/8), Count Montecristo (5/1), Dejan (6/1), Born To Reason (14/1)
Course form is always an advantage but with only the out of form Count Montecristo having raced here previously the chance is taken that the consistent MANS NOT TROT can improve again back up to this more suitable distance. Side Effect rates a danger after proving unsuited by sprinting while Dejan needs to progress on handicap debut but is nicely bred.
