Only has the one chase win to his name having scored over fences at Fontwell in the summer off a 1lb lower mark. Ran a respectable race last time out on his first chase start since late June; not sure to stay this extreme trip in the conditions.

Dual winning hurdler (5lb below his last winning mark); showed that some ability remains after returning from a long absence over fences at Uttoxeter. Moved well enough before checking out tamely; pulled up in the end (this to reveal more).

Stable won this last year and this one shaped well over fences in the spring winning twice coping fine with the rise into this grade on the 2nd occasion. Would have needed his recent reappearance and may well be able to cope with this mark.

Three-time course winner (twice C&D) who appears to be going through a fallow period now having last won off a 7lb lower mark in September. Pulled up on his last three starts the latest under today's rider and can only be watched for now.

Went to Uttoxeter for his reappearance boasting a 3-3 record but ran poorly under changed tactics and looked rather lazy. Back in usual headgear combination today after again looking temperamental when well beaten at Ffos Las; risky proposition.

Appears a better performer in cheekpieces and he finally managed to put everything together over C&D last time (jumping better; improved form). He now has to repeat that display in a better grade and off a 9lb higher mark; hard to write off though.

Forecasts

The Tin Miner (2/1), Crystal Lad (3/1), I See You Well (10/3), Weststreet (9/2), Lunar Flow (6/1), Dylanseoghan (7/1), Little Windmill (12/1)

Verdict

Some of these bring in less than solid form and may be going the wrong way. One who isn’t is The Tin Miner will need to improve again on his C&D win last time and although he looks unexposed he does have to cope with a rise in grade and a far stiffer mark. Crystal Lad provides a little bit of class to the race (could probably run in a better grade) but he’s got to cope with a big weight over a testing trip. I See You Well and Lunar Flow have it in them to come back to form with the latter looking as though he has undergone further wind surgery since Ffos Las. DYLANSEOGHAN looks the value play here with the yard having won this last year, he stays well and his recent run will have helped.
  1. Dylanseoghan
  2. The Tin Miner
  3. Crystal Lad
