Fair form in bumpers and offered something to work on from his hurdles debut when held up behind an attacking winner at Warwick. 33-1 and not knocked around on that occasion; more to come but that may well be in handicaps.

Placed in a maiden point-to-point on his 2nd start in that sphere before transferring to this yard. Has offered little over hurdles though so far; pulled up last time and faces a hard task here.

Fairly useful on the Flat with the highlight coming when winning the Spring Mile at Doncaster in March. However his temperament has increasingly come under the spotlight and now goes hurdling with a cloud hanging over him.

Fair form in bumpers when with Jonjo O'Neill but failed to complete on his hurdling debut for this yard after nearly a year off. Raced very freely and led but was under pressure when falling four out at Bangor; needs to settle to be of interest.

Lot more to like about his hurdles debut than his bumper one and fared much better than his final position at Chepstow would suggest. Did a fair bit in front (not helped by a loose horse) and could well progress with more to offer in an average race.

Fairly useful sort on the Flat (mostly seen on the AW) and won four races at up to 1m4f earlier in the year. Not seen in that sphere since August when he was slow away and ran poorly; interesting sort for hurdles with a market watch advised.

Had needed the experience on his bumper debut and returned a little more like the finished article for his hurdling debut. Offered something to work on although the improvement may well come over further than 2m and in handicaps.

Ran out (saddle slipped) on his only start in Irish point-to-points, despite that mishap he was still relatively well-fancied on his hurdling debut last month. Travelled well in what was a false run race before fitness/inexperience found him out.

Cost £160,000 after finishing 2nd in his only Irish point-to-point and given a fair break before making a winning bumper debut. Looked a fair prospect when winning at Uttoxeter in what looked a decent bumper and now goes hurdling for first time.

Had a long point-to-point career (1-13) before trying his luck over hurdles but his form so far in this sphere has been rather modest. Well beaten when last seen in the summer and will do well to make an impact here.

Point-to-point winner (1-10) who has so far shown very little over hurdles in novices. Started at big prices in all her races and that trend is unlikely to be broken here and faces a stiff task.

Forecasts

Umbrigado (1/1), Mack The Man (11/4), Khage (5/1), Shanty Alley (10/1), High Acclaim (20/1), Three County's (25/1), Moayadd (25/1), Dessie's Diamond (33/1), Why Lie (66/1), Fenjack (150/1), Quizzacle Nomad (200/1)

Verdict

Some of the bumper/hurdle form on offer here hints that there is improvement in one or two of these with MACK THE MAN the main candidate to progress from his initial hurdles outing at Chepstow where he was better than his final finishing position. Umbrigado looks a danger on the back of a winning bumper debut as he starts his hurdling career along with Three County’s who will appreciate a more truly run race this time around. Moayadd and High Acclaim both have Flat form that is useful although the latter has of late looked rather awkward and it will be interesting to see how both of them take to hurdles.

  3. Three County's
