6/1
Bumper winner who caught the eye on final qualifying run over hurdles at Hereford last month. No surprise to see him improved markedly now upped in distance for handicap debut.
2
Horse silk
Samson The Manh199
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-12| J: L P Aspell| T: Noel Williams| OR:  105WS
13/2
Hasn't yet delivered on early promise over hurdles, including in handicaps but it's still early days and he has undergone wind surgery since last seen.
3
Horse silk
Irish Princeb162
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-11| J: T Scudamore| T: D Pipe| OR:  104
7/1
Not knocked about in qualifying, and had wind surgery prior to an improved showing on handicap bow at Worcester in July. Blinkers retained, and yard amongst the winners of late.
4
Horse silk
Druid's Follyh,t192
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-11| J: James Best| T: R Walford| OR:  104| D
9/1
Went very close over 2m3f here in May and back to form despite drop in trip when third at Newton Abbot in June. Off since, but claims on form, and longer trip ought to be in his favour.
5
Horse silk
March Is On163
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.(5)| T: J & A O'Neill| OR:  103
8/1
Has shown a modicum of ability, but went handicapping off a stiff mark, and well held on first try at Stratford. Will do better, but needs some help from the assessor.
6
Horse silk
Bomber's Moont13
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-10| J: M D Grant| T: N & W Twiston-Davies| OR:  103
6/1
Best effort in handicap hurdles when 7½L third of 11 to Dubh des Champs at Doncaster last time. Competitive on form, but vulnerable to less exposed rivals.
7
Horse silk
Black Buble31
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-10| J: Harry Stock(5)| T: A W Carroll| OR:  103
7/2
Hit hard for wide-margin win at Bangor in April, and just respectable efforts in handicaps more recently, making him look opposable once more.
8
Horse silk
Drewmain Legend243
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: Andrew Tinkler| T: A Stronge| OR:  101
20/1
Placed twice in handicap hurdles before winning in the mud at Chepstow in April. Absent since, and raised 8lb for that win, but should continue to progress.
9
Horse silk
Sandy Boy30
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-1| J: R Johnson| T: P Hobbs & J White| OR:  94
25/1
Well beaten on all three qualifying runs and while there is a strong suspicion that he will improve now handicapping, no chances have been taken with his opening mark.
10
Horse silk
Ifandabut343
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-13| J: S Bowen| T: P C Dando| OR:  92
33/1
Potentially well treated based on sole start in bumpers, but no impact in three starts over hurdles for Venetia Williams, and a bit disconcerting that he has left that yard.
11
Horse silk
El Scorpio23
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-12| J: L Heard| T: J Groucott| OR:  91
16/1
Best effort in handicaps to date when third at Bangor in October, but couldn't match that form last time, and opposable as a result.
12
Horse silk
Auenwirbel14
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-11| J: R T Dunne| T: Mrs L J Young| OR:  90
50/1
Won over fences at Worcester in June, but on the retreat when unseating in that sphere last time, and easy enough to discard from calculations back over hurdles.
14
Horse silk
Kilmoganny15
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-0| J: Benjamin Poste| T: Katy Price| OR:  76
33/1
Moderate form so far in bumpers and over hurdles, and again well held on return from absence at Hereford last month. No appeal from out of the handicap, even if his last run was needed.

Black Buble (7/2), Daydream Aulmes (6/1), Bomber's Moon (6/1), Samson The Man (13/2), Irish Prince (7/1), March Is On (8/1), Druid's Folly (9/1), Quarry Wizard (14/1), El Scorpio (16/1), Drewmain Legend (20/1), Sandy Boy (25/1), Kilmoganny (33/1), Ifandabut (33/1), Auenwirbel (50/1)

Verdict

DAYDREAM AULMES caught the eye over an inadequate trip at Hereford, and this bumper winner is the type to progress markedly now stepped up in trip for his handicap bow. Irish Prince and Drewmain Legend were going the right way when last seen, and that pair are well worth considering assuming they are fully fit on return to action.
  1. Daydream Aulmes
  2. Irish Prince
  3. Drewmain Legend
