Plumpton heavy ground novice winner last season was shuffled back before staying on for sixth of 20 on recent return at Sandown. Upped in trip from 2m here which looks sure to suit and has very strong claims as lone runner here for leading yard.
Promise in latter two of three novice hurdles last season but subsequently beaten 37L and 16L in handicaps. Mark falling and handles ground but still needs to improve plenty to play a major role here.
Former French trained gelding has failed to complete in four of his seven starts for this yard. Running on third over 2m4f at Uttoxeter in February easily his best effort and perhaps didn't stay next. Potential now off this sort of mark if ready.
Warwick novice hurdle winner on final start for Olly Murphy made inauspicious start for these connections when tailed off at Kempton last month. This sort of ground also an unknown so others more compelling.
Point-to-point winner in Ireland ran well in first two novice hurdles at Fontwell but fell next at Exeter and was pulled up before three out on recent return at Chepstow where she jumped quite pedestrianly. Hard to be confident now.
Registered clear career best latest on handicap debut when second at Ffos Las over 2m (heavy) and only beaten 1L. Raised 4lb now but with similar ground here he has strong claims and looks a leading contender.
2m6f Ffos Las winner last season ran well when fifth of 20 at Sandown on return (Cigarisi sixth) at 50/1. Not always the most consistent but good platform to build on there and has genuine each-way claims now.
Dual chase winner last term before falling two out on final run of the campaign. Never won over hurdles but third when last seen over them one of his better efforts and will have no problems with the deep ground so not ruled out.
Winner over 2m7½f and 3m1f over hurdles tailed off and pulled-up when last seen in April. Returns here off last winning mark so has obvious potential to start this season but trip here may just prove too sharp.
12-race maiden on the flat done little to encourage of late and is 27lb out of the handicap here making this an insurmountable task.
Forecasts
Cigarisi (2/1), Deebaj (7/2), Some Can Dance (9/2), Max Do Brazil (6/1), Minella Gathering (9/1), Flight To Milan (10/1), Heresmynumber (20/1), Telegraph Place (20/1), Illtellmema (20/1), Elusive Cowboy (200/1)
CIGARISI didn't get the best run on his return at Sandown but still ran with credit and he should relish this step up in trip so can land the spoils for the prolific Hobbs/Johnson combination. Some Can Dance is a danger after a good start to his handicap career latest as is Max Do Brazil for whom things haven't yet gone to plan since joining this yard but he now looks close to a winning mark.
- Cigarisi
- Some Can Dance
- Max Do Brazil
