Goes well here and on soft. 1lb lower than when scoring in the class 2 Castleford Chase over C&D last Christmas and we could see him bounce right back to his best now dropped to this trip again. Claims.
Former Paul Nicholls inmate whose form tailed off for that trainer last season. Looks to have been waiting for this softer ground to make debut for this trainer, but will need to improve on his last several efforts to win from this mark.
Has won three of his last five starts from 2m½f-2m5f. While all those were on good, he handles soft well enough too. Latest 5L success at Ayr suggested that there is more to come and from 4lb higher he looks a major player.
Could do better over fences than he did as a useful novice over hurdles last season. Has shown promise in both chases so far. Drops 1lb, and does need more, but it would be no surprise to see him go close.
Multiple chase winner, including over C&D in 2015. Acts on soft. Has gone a little off the boil lately, and is still 2lb higher than the mark for his last two wins, so looks to be playing for places even if he can revive this time.
Won this race last year (soft), when on this mark, before being well beaten by Just Cameron in the Castleford from 7lb higher. Ran well back over fences at Cheltenham last time and looks capable of giving a very good account.
Back on the same mark as when last winning at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. Well held in his three chase runs since, so now has plenty to prove.
Forecasts
Movie Legend (6/4), Some Reign (5/2), Just Cameron (5/1), Raise A Spark (6/1), Bouvreuil (16/1), Oliver's Gold (22/1), Fair Loch (33/1)
A tough race to call, with Just Cameron well worth considering in spite of recent efforts, now back at a track he loves and with conditions to suit, and Raise A Spark another for the short list. However, last year's winner MOVIE LEGEND also returns in good form and from the same mark, he gets the vote. Some Reign is another potential danger.
