Last spotted down the field in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham in March, a Grade 3 winner over timber and should have excellent prospects going chasing, given his yard.
Nothing in five starts, two of them over fences, to merit suggestion he'll have anything other than a bit-part role to fulfil in this field.
Some fair form over timber last term and promising third on chasing bow behind Dr Mikey (runs in preceding Grade 3) at Gowran Park (2m4f, good to soft) a fortnight ago. Should progress.
Was returning from a long absence when second in 2m4f (yielding to soft) beginners' chase at Kilbeggan in April. Off again since but open to doing better and one to note in betting here.
Long-standing maiden over hurdles (0-18) and will need to find immediate improvement now going chasing for the first time. Others preferred.
Runner-up in Cork beginners' chase (2m5f, yielding) last month on debut in this sphere. Work to do with some of these on hurdles form, if hoping to better that placing.
Tailed off in Ayr novice chase having gone off an 80/1 chance last week. Modest record in point-to-points and hard to see prominent role now.
Bumper winner and useful as novice over timber last term, should prove even better over fences and trainer has his string in excellent form right now.
Beaten favourite in final maiden hurdle (21L down in second) and looks best watched making first foray into this arena.
Good bit to find with some of these on hurdles exploits and well beaten off at Fairyhouse (2m5f, good) last month on initial outing over fences. Looks up against it.
Just 1-6 over timber, landing a heavy-ground maiden at Thurles in March over 3m. Back from a break to commence chasing career and hard to make case for.
Modest hurdler, now 0-2 over fences having fallen at Fairyhouse and trailed home last of seven at Punchestown (2m4f, good). Up against it on all known form.
Forecasts
Shady Operator (13/8), Chris's Dream (15/8), Gun Digger (4/1), Kagney (9/1), Last Man Standing (14/1), The Conditional (25/1), Steer Clear (33/1), King's War (50/1), School Lane (66/1), Tara Mia (100/1), Disco Musik (100/1), The Brig (100/1)
GUN DIGGER put up a sound effort on his chasing debut at Gowran Park recently, form that could be boosted when winner runs in the Grade 3 that precedes this contest. In any case, Gordon Elliott's charge boasts that experience and can improve from it to build his challenge now. Chris's Dream should develop into a useful weapon in this sphere, though maybe over further, while fellow chase debutant Shady Operator also has solid credentials. Kagney isn't the easiest to get right it seems but is well worth a look based on effort at Kilbeggan in the spring.
- Gun Digger
- Shady Operator
- Chris's Dream
