Has shown only gradual progression in three bumpers (given a tough start in a Listed event) with his best run coming last time at Catterick; finished a modest 4th of eight. Half-brother to six winners and likely to come into his own when tried over f

Yard going well of late and gained their only bumper of the last five years this season (Soviet Castle). Produced a promising first effort; beaten 8L but 2m trips looks sharp enough and ran green (winner has won over hurdles since); decent prospect.

4/5
Rare runner at the track for the trainer who is respected in bumpers this one is a half-brother to seven winners. Showed ability amongst his inexperience on only run so far (3rd at Bangor) and ought to be able to step forward on that start here.

5/2
Plenty of stamina in his pedigree and he shaped just like that on his debut at Ayr (2m, good); made 2-1 favourite. Led at a slow pace but proved vulnerable to a couple of sharper sorts in the finish; looks to need a galloping track/true pace.

Forecasts

Weapons Out (4/5), Yes No Maybe So (5/2), Leather Belly (11/2), Gold Fields (12/1)

Verdict

Only a small field for the closing bumper but an intriguing little contest nonetheless with three holding strong claims. Rebecca Menzies has her team in good form and she will have a good idea of how LEATHER BELLY will go here against one of her rivals in Yes No Maybe So as her Soviet Castle was just in front of the McCain horse at Ayr. Her charge looks a decent sort and his bumper form has been franked over hurdles. Weapons Out is expected to step forward from his debut also; a rare runner here for Harry Whittington he’s also an only ride of the day for Gavin Sheehan who has been in fine form of late.
