Age: 8|  Weight: 11-8| J: Harry Skelton| T: D Skelton| OR:  135
6/1
Smart bumper performer who is also a three-time winner over hurdles (137-rated); novicey on chasing debut 13 months ago when finishing just under 15L third of four to Finian's Oscar (2m3f+ Chepstow); off the track since.

Jack Devinev21
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-7| J: Craig Nichol| T: R Dobbin| OR:  134
14/1
Much improved for wind surgery and added another hurdles win after some further additional breathing work prior to Kelso (3m2f) three weeks ago; 3-11 in PTP's and of definite interest now sent over fences under rules; stable quiet of late.
3
Horse silk
Rock My Stylep302
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-5| J: Jack Kennedy| T: W Greatrex| OR:  132
9/2
Back from a ten month absence with back-to-back maiden/novice hurdle wins at Hereford (2m3f+) and Chepstow (2m7f+) in early 2018; plenty to like about his attitude and has masses of potential over the larger obstacles; further rain would suit.

Polydora34
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-4| J: Alan Johns| T: T Lacey| OR:  131| D
15/8
Dual hurdles winner on testing ground (131-rated); raced prominently throughout on chasing (and seasonal) debut at Aintree in October (3m1f, good), finishing 8L third to Molly The Dolly (a stablemate of Aintree My Dream).
5
Horse silk
Didero Vallis201
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-3| J: Charlie Deutsch| T: Miss V Williams| OR:  130
7/1
Sole hurdles win came in a Downpatrick maiden (2m3f, good) for former trainer Willie Mullins; untested this side of the Irish Sea having left those shores for £46,000 in May; dam was a 2m3f-2m4f winning chaser in France.

Horse silk
Cooking Fatb27
Age: 7|  Weight: 11-2| J: Henry Brooke| T: Miss P Robson| OR:  129
8/1
Boosted by the application of blinkers (retained) when winning by 2L at Perth in July (3m, good), downing course specialist Kilbree Kid; relatively sold since in competitive affairs, albeit possibly not ideally suited by a trip of 3m2f latest.
7
Horse silk
Donna's Delight27
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-12| J: Sean Quinlan| T: A M Thomson| OR:  125
10/1
Fair to say he flattered to deceive over hurdles after winning well at Carlisle (2m3f, heavy) in the autumn of 2017; bred for chasing (brother to the strong stayer Knockanrawley); outclassed by Count Meribel on chasing bow; will win more races.
8
Horse silk
Caventara333
Age: 6|  Weight: 10-6| J: Danny Cook| T: A M Thomson| OR:  119
12/1
Stablemate of Donna's Delight (and possible second string); brother to the 3m2f hurdle winner Braventara; absent since ploughing through deep winter ground to win at Ayr in January (2m4f, maiden hurdle); in deep on chasing debut.
9
Horse silk
33/1
Multiple PTP winner (3-9); hurdles form modest (no match for Aintree My Dream at Carlisle in October 2016), although did show definite improvement under a fairly modest ride at Uttoxeter in April; rates as an unlikely contender on rules chasing bow.

Forecasts

Polydora (15/8), Rock My Style (9/2), Aintree My Dream (6/1), Didero Vallis (7/1), Cooking Fat (8/1), Donna's Delight (10/1), Caventara (12/1), Jack Devine (14/1), Late Romantic (33/1)

Verdict

Rose Dobbin has had a slow start to this jumps campaign after delivering a career best number of winners in 2017/18, but the reliable JACK DEVINE has come on in leaps and bounds since mid-summer following a couple of doses of wind surgery. Now handicapped up to the hilt over hurdles a switch to chasing was always likely to be on the cards and with the ground still predicted to be riding no worse than good to soft, this son of Kalanisi is taken to make a winning rules chasing debut. Others to consider include the returning Aintree My Dream, the likeable Rock My Style (ideally needs further rain) and the former Willie Mullins in-mate Didero Vallis.
  1. Jack Devine
  2. Rock My Style
  3. Didero Vallis
