Well down the field in a number of dismal starts to date. 100/1 chance in three maiden hurdles so far and hasn't finished within hailing distance of those that mattered.
Beaten out of sight in maiden hurdles at Listowel, Clonmel and Naas so far, hard to predict any dramatic turnaround today.

Pulled-up in three point-to-points last year and unplaced in six starts under rules early this year, four of them over timber. First start since April and plenty to work on.
Milan gelding that cost €26,000 as a three-year-old. Beaten 19L in 2m6f good-ground Punchestown maiden hurdle this month on seasonal bow/second hurdles start. May at least strip fitter here.

Some promise show as a point-to-pointer but poor in three starts under rules, each of them over fences. More to count against him than in his favour for this switch to hurdling.

Stowaway gelding with little to recommend him based on three starts in maiden hurdles so far. Race-fit but needs this longer trip to bring about sizeable chunk of improvement.

Robin Des Champs gelding is now 0-10 over timber with three falls in that sequence. Starting to look rather exposed and devoid of promise.

Jeremy gelding out of a Jimble mare. Half-brother to useful types Unison and Our Kylie as well as Triumph hurdle winner Our Conor. Has shaped well in three starts, but needs a bit more to open account here.

Gelding by Vinnie Roe out of a Tarrawarra mare. Much more like it on third start at Tipperary (2m, good) recently when just over 2L fourth of 13. Has to be on shortlist with that run in mind.

Daughter of Robin Des Champs out of a Darazari mare, just fair form in two hurdles starts, latest when upped to 2m4f at Navan last week and lacking a turn of foot. Too soon to be writing her off, given connections.

Hopelessly tailed off in all six starts under rules, five them over timber, having tackled trips from 2m-3m. Impossible to recommend on form.
By Presenting out of Lady Hillingdon who herself was a 2m to 2m3f hurdle and chase winner. Was returning from 537-day absence at Thurles (2m7f, good to firm) a week and understandably looked a bit rusty.

Twice run with credit in 2m maidens at Kilbeggan and Clonmel since September. Perhaps will have more say in the finish now moving up in trip.
Well-related Beneficial mare, not shown a lot in interrupted four-race career but recent return from an absence over this trip at Fairyhouse (good) was more encouraging. Interesting if building on it now.

Verdict

Not a contest to whet the appetite for starters but LILL SMITH showed some promise in bumpers and on her hurdles bow and again ran encouragingly at Fairyhouse at the start of this month. She goes up in distance here and that might be enough to see Noel Meade's mare take the spoils. Vinnwarr is also going up in trip having improved to be second at Tipperary last time and rates a big danger while the likes of Cara's Way, The Hunter Hoe and Running Skeard are worth paying attention in the betting.
  1. Lill Smith
  2. Vinnwarr
  3. The Hunter Hoe
