Former inmate of the Willie Mullins yard whose time there ended on a downturn (pulled up last two starts). Let down by his jumping in competitive handicaps he's now with a new yard in a less demanding race; tongue-tie goes on (market to guide).
Consistent and tough individual (front-runner) who returned to form when winning over C&D (penultimate start), looking well treated on his old form. Again ran well at Aintree last time when 2nd and a danger to all off the same mark here.
Dual winner when with the Jefferson team who took well to chasing bar one blip at Carlisle producing a career best at Haydock (final run for the yard). Shaped better than his final placing last time out (forced a strong pace); more expected here.
Capable of some useful chase form in the past (winner on his first run for this yard) but has gradually regressed between appearances. Pulled up on his last two starts and stopped very quickly when last seen; more help needed from the assessor.
Having a productive time over fences this year having scored five times over trip at up to 2m4f. Now resides on rather a harsh mark courtesy of his wide-margin Sedgefield win (19L) and faces competition for the lead again in a tough grade.
Obviously being nursed back to fitness having shown useful form to win off a mark of 130 over hurdles here in 2015; matched his hurdles form on his 3rd chase starts (C&D). Given a considerate return over hurdles; returns to fencing (bit to prove).
Only lightly-raced this year in various spheres and ran no sort of race when he was last seen on the Flat. This will be his first chase run since February (2-11 over fences) but while he's capable off his mark he does looks a rather quirky sort.
Flat, chase and hurdles winner in France who disappointed on his initial GB run when tried over 2m1f at Kelso running far too free despite being well clear at one point. Dropped 4lb for that run but his chance rests more on getting him to settle.
Smart chaser in the past (rated as high as 150; placed in the Grand Annual) but certainly not capable of running to that mark/form now. Slipped in the weights and ran better last time when 2nd at Lingfield; not sure to be in the same fettle.
Forecasts
Theflyingportrait (9/4), Savello (3/1), Robbing The Prey (6/1), Oak Vintage (8/1), Vendor (8/1), Special Catch (9/1), Fair Loch (22/1), Horst (33/1), Demi Sang (40/1)
Robbing The Prey ran far better than his finishing position at Aintree would suggest but he faces getting involved in another pace war with THEFLYINGPORTRAIT here and the selection is better equipped to handle that scenario. He’s 1-1 here and still looks to be capable of adding to that record off this mark under a rider who has a 7-21 record him over fences. Vendor is still unexposed over fences if he has been coaxed back to health while the market may give some clues on the performance of Demi Sang. Savello features off a tempting mark on his old form having shown some old zip at Stratford last time.
