Soft ground novice hurdle winner at Wincanton in January last year. Struggled since and cheekpieces tried for the first time having been beaten 31L at Kelso (2m1f, good) on stable debut earlier this month.
Finished runner-up on both starts since winning over an extended 2m1f at Cartmel (good) in May. One for the shortlist off a mark 1lb higher than when beaten 1¾L at Kelso (2m1f, good) last time.
Novice hurdle winner on soft ground at Southwell in February. Well beaten in handicap hurdles in two starts since returning from a break and interesting to see how he fares back over fences.
Returning from a break when finishing 24L third of five in a handicap chase over an extended 2m3f at Sedgefield (good-to-firm) early last month. Others hold stronger claims.
Impressive 8L winner of a novices' handicap chase over 2m at Ludlow (good) last time out. Likely to prove hard to beat despite an 8lb rise in the weights.
Running well in defeat in recent starts including when 2L second over an extended 2m5f at Kelso (good) just over a fortnight ago. Interesting dropping back in distance.
Forecasts
Cap St Vincent (6/5), Contre Tous (9/2), Civil Unrest (5/1), Monsieur Co (5/1), Cool Valley (11/1), Nicolas Chauvin (20/1)
CAP ST VINCENT can complete a chase double with victory in this six runner handicap chase. The selection has the trip and forecast underfoot conditions to suit and he can see off the veteran Civil Unrest who ran well to place last time out. Monsieur Co can put a disappointing stable debut behind him to claim third.
