Appreciated the drop into this grade to take a Towcester race off a 2lb lower mark in May. Winless since then (has been tried over fences) turning in some creditable if unexciting efforts highlighted by his sound 2nd last time at Uttoxeter.

Successful in this race last year off a 1lb lower mark that remains his last win although he's been lightly-raced since then; a couple of times in better grade. Returns from a long break now having had a prep run last year and no great record fresh.

Front-runner who doesn't look an easy sort to train; had just three runs this year all separated by breaks; this will be the quickest he's back on track. Beat two rivals in a novice on stable debut (form questionable); ran a fair race last time.

Has a rather uneven profile and is without a victory since scoring over fences in early 2017; failed to complete in that sphere since; seen more over hurdles. Looked to need his return run last time although suspicion that this 3m is too far for him.

Maiden over hurdles but this will only be his 2nd try in handicaps having shaped nicely on his debut in this sphere off the same mark last time. Given his run style in that race (found for pressure) this longer trip in a first-time visor should suit.

A Ffos Las winner on his hurdles debut in testing conditions over 2m6f he's failed to build on that victory regressing badly in his last two starts. Pulled-up last time he now runs on a sound surface for the first time with cheekpieces applied.

Successful when scoring a hurdles handicap hat-trick in 2016 she's only been seen 7 times since then with most of those outings well below par. Now returns from another break off a mark 6lb below her last winning one; still questions to answer.

Made a stellar start to his career with this yard winning his first four starts under today's rider but in lesser grade than he faces now. Not won since those days but his two runs since his return have hinted that there may be another win in him.

Verdict

One of the more complex puzzles on the card with no outstanding profiles but IT’S GOT LEGS shaped well enough in an Ascot handicap hurdle over a shorter trip last time to suggest that he could win off this mark stepped up in trip with a visor now applied. Plantagenet is another who looks capable of winning something like this with his last two races hinting that he’s coming back to the sort of form he was in when scoring his four-timer. The Drone could be dangerous with a soft lead while Granard might appreciate a sounder surface in first-time headgear; those two factors may arrest his slide. Another in first-time headgear No Hiding Place is a consistent sort and looks booked for a place.
