Modest recruit from the Flat where rated just 45. Well beaten on hurdling debut and others have stronger claims.

Won a 1m2f Lingfield AW seller on his final start for Marcus Tregoning in what was a very weak contest and well beaten on both Flat starts for this yard. Makes hurdling debut with plenty to prove.

Rated in the mid 80s on the Flat for John Gosden. Made his hurdling debut 10 days ago wearing a hood after drifting alarmingly in the market. Jumped well on first run since May and interesting to see if the market signs are more positive.

Achieved a modest level on the Flat and was soon in trouble on hurdling debut. Will need to have learnt a lot for the experience.

Poor Flat maiden makes hurdling debut for a yard that ended a quiet spell with a winner at Huntingdon yesterday.
Half-brother to nine winners including Viking Blond (2m7f-3m hurdle/chase) and Rosemauve (2m5f-2m7f hurdle); raced keenly on debut at Perth (2m, good) in September when finishing just over 10L fourth of eight to Ghost Serge.

Runner-up at Kempton on last start but best Flat form came on quicker ground than expected here for hurdling debut.

Six-race Flat maiden showed some ability although he has looked one paced. Not highly tried on jumping debut and stable have made a good start with their juvenile hurdlers.

Won a poor AW handicap in September but stepped up on that next time in a better race at Pontefract. Makes hurdling debut in a low grade affair and the market should be informative.

Forecasts

Nebuchadnezzar (10/11), Nelson River (11/4), Bold Reason (9/2), Glenpark (8/1), Don't Cry About It (25/1), French Kiss (33/1), Good Impression (33/1), Barnay (50/1), Allnite (66/1)

Verdict

This is a low grade juvenile hurdle in which Glenpark and Bold Reason boast the pick of the hurdling form although both look vulnerable given the modest standard achieved. The former may have more scope for improvement, whilst the latter, the pick of these on the level, has given signs he is not straightforward. Nelson River has been in form on the Flat lately and will need to be monitored in the market, but the vote goes to NEBUCHADNEZZAR who has shown some ability on the Flat and represents a stable whose juvenile hurdlers have been in cracking form.
  1. Nebuchadnezzar
  2. Nelson River
  3. Bold Reason
