Could finish only fourth of five in novice chase at Fairyhouse (2m, good) four weeks ago on chase bow, up in distance now sent handicapping and tough enough ask it seems.
Hasn't convinced he'll be as good over fences as he was over timber, comes back from six-month layoff here and likely best watched for now.
Finished very good second of 14 in novice chase at Wexford (2m, soft) in May, off since and goes up in distance for handicap bow. Should be able to mount a challenge.
Justified odds-on favouritism to score over 2m5f at Fairyhouse in February (rated 9lb higher here) but has unseated and fallen since in three starts, latest over hurdles at Cork in May. Capable of being involved if getting around in one piece.
Winner of a 2m4f (yielding to soft) novice chase at Wexford 13 days ago, improving to do so. This is likely tougher again but should have a big say nonetheless.
The 3m trip appeared to have stretched him when he took a fall at Down Royal a week ago, drops in distance now and not one to cast aside if none the worse for that mishap.
Some fair efforts in seven chase starts without yielding a win, career-best likely to be demanded now back over these obstacles after a break.
Just the one career win, coming over hurdles back in 2015. Nothing in six-race chasing career thus far to force a recommendation tally will be doubled today.
Forecasts
Peacocks Secret (7/2), Stowaway Forever (4/1), Ballybrowney Jack (4/1), Sir Bob (9/2), Nicole's Milan (6/1), Fit To Be Tied (9/1), Don't Let Go (14/1), Fruits Of Glory (20/1)
Recent Wexford novice winner Peacocks Secret is entitled to respect back in a handicap and should give a good account while the drop in distance should aid Ballybrowney Jack, a faller last week at Down Royal over 3m. SIR BOB was second in novice company in May and rates a good contender now upped in journey for handicap bow off a fair mark, with any market support worth noting. Stowaway Forever is also worth noting in the betting, despite top-weight on his handicap chase bow.
- Sir Bob
- Peacocks Secret
- Stowaway Forever
