Looked to have a good future when a winner at Huntingdon two starts but but found disappointingly little when long odds-on at Fakenham last time, although winner there ran well at the weekend. Needs more under a penalty now.
Four times a winner at middle distances on the Flat for Alan Swinbank, and clearly has ability, but yard not known for novice winners and he may be one more for handicaps further down the line. Best watched today.

Low-grade 22-race maiden that's better known as a chaser, has joined a good yard but surely has little chance of beating these. One to watch when back in a moderate handicap chase, as yard may get something out of him in time.

In good hands but showed little on bumper debut at Worcester in October and judging by the 25-1 price tag, little was expected. May need more time.

Good looking gelding that showed some ability in three bumpers last season, finishing behind some useful sorts. Full brother to useful Always Lion, will want further in time and best watched today, but an interesting recruit to hurdles.

Looked a surefire future winner when staying on nicely for third at Worcester two start ago but rather blotted her copybook when refusing to start at Ffos Las last time. Needs to be on best behaviour now but even then, needs improvement.

Point-to-point winner at Mollington in May, (on first start for three years), clearly retains her ability and with a top yard, but might find a few of these a bit quicker on her belated Rules debut today.

Forecasts

Mon Port (1/1), Commanche Red (13/8), Firmage Burg (5/2), Savanna Roar (4/1), Tigeralley (16/1), Raise Your Shades (25/1), Micquus (50/1), Go George Go (66/1)

Verdict

As time progresses Savanna Roar might be the best of these, but this trip could be sharp enough for him today. Nevertheless, he's of some interest here and can't be discounted. Preference at this stage though is for COMMANCHE RED, who was quietly impressive last time out and can defy a penalty today. Mon Port has to put that heavy defeat behind him now and may have to settle for places. Firmage Burg is another that has a setback to defy too.
  1. Commanche Red
  2. Savanna Roar
  3. Mon Port
