Macer Gifford Handicap Chase

Made all in his only previous run at this venue over a year ago but has generally struggled to follow up but this does represent a drop in class. Likely to have competition for the lead.

Usually needs his first run of the season so should improve for his first run for five months at Fontwell recently. Has twice won off higher marks over fences so commands respect.

Front-runner who won a Point-to-point over 3m on good ground in May. Beaten by progressive types in both starts under rules and likely to give it a good go from the front at a track that should suit.

Won a weak contest on heavy ground at Taunton in April but pulled up only run since and this a stronger contest. Has never been the easiest to catch right and others preferred.

Well beaten fourth in this race last year but won it 2016 and generally goes well at this venue. Has had a wind operation since last seen and although sometimes a front runner, is versatile re tactics and likely to have been aimed at this.
