C&D winner and a talented sort who was third in this race last year. Can throw in the odd poor jump, as seen in the National last time out but these fences aren't as testing and he goes well fresh, as seen when winning on return last season.

Didn't get far in the National on return from wind surgery last year but impressive in two subsequent starts. Will love this ground and while he has a bit to find on ratings, he's expected to go close for a yard that have a fine record here.

Ran a huge race in the King George last year when just 1L behind Might Bite. Didn't back that up on two subsequent starts though and while he gets weight from all here, there's a suspicion he would have preferred softer ground.

Verdict

BLACK CORTON has an excellent record when fresh and while his form dipped towards the back end of last season, he's expected to go close on return in ground he will relish. Virgilio is another who will enjoy conditions and Dan Skelton has a fine record here. Definitely Red and Double Shuffle are best of the rest with the former preferred given his excellent course record.
