Impressive when winning this race last year, though did get a dream run on the rail. Hasn't really backed that up since and he was disappointing in the Arc last time.
Remarkable filly who arrives here a dual Arc winner after her success at Longchamp last time out, a sixth Group 1 win. Shaped like she might even come on for that run and arrives here fresher than most; outstanding claims.
Got the better of Robert Bruce in his first Grade 1 win at Belmont last time out. Seemingly well suited by some cut in the ground and may be able to confirm that form here, but vulnerable for win purposes.
Very talented horse on his day, a multiple Grade 1 winner, but fast conditions are a must for him and he likely to struggle to reverse the form with Channel Maker from last time when beaten 4½L on soft.
Confirmed the promise of an eye-catching effort in the Arc when winning on Champions' Day at Ascot last time. She has solid each-way claims if she can repeat that effort and handles these conditions but would need a big step forward to beat Enable.
Grade 2 winner here last year and has been running well in lesser company than this on recent starts. Hard to imagine he's up to this level though.
Arrives here in fine form. Dead-heated with Channel Maker on soft ground at Saratoga before getting the better of that rival on firm ground in a Grade 1 last time. Will appreciate these conditions and not without each-way hope.
Arrives on the back of a career best Grade 2 win at Santa Anita. Unraced on this ground though and will need to improve to mix it at this level.
Multiple Group 1 winner in Brazil and has form on this sort of ground but it's hard to believe the South American form will amount to much against these rivals.
Grade 1 winner at Belmont Park earlier in the campaign but he was well beaten on his only recent start on soft ground and looks up against it here.
Grade 2 winner on his return this year but seemingly wants a faster surface than what he is going to get here and has plenty on to turn around the form with the two rivals who finished a long way in front of him last time on soft ground.
In the form of his life at present, though his Group 1 win at Saint-Cloud was a weak race for the grade. Good fourth in the Arc last time and handles conditions but this draw isn't ideal and he only has each-way claims at best.
Group 3 winner at Ascot's Royal meeting and had held his form well prior to a below par effort in the Arc last time out. Has a fair bit to prove at this level though and wide draw has probably scuppered his chance.
Forecasts
Enable (8/13), Waldgeist (9/2), Magical (13/2), Talismanic (16/1), Channel Maker (16/1), Robert Bruce (16/1), Glorious Empire (40/1), Hunting Horn (66/1), Sadler's Joy (80/1), Hi Happy (80/1), Arklow (100/1), Liam The Charmer (100/1), Quarteto De Cordas (100/1)
It's hard to look past ENABLE here after her gutsy display in this year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and while she paddled a little in the closing stages of that contest, that was just her second start of the season and she should strip fitter here. Magical produced a career best on Champions' Day and still has scope for improvement while Glorious Empire and Channel Maker are closely matched on their soft ground form in the US. They could prove to be the best of the home challenge.
- Enable
- Magical
- Channel Maker
