Shown steady improvement by winning back-to-back handicap hurdles here in January, and failed to stay extended 2m3f here when last seen. Should adapt to fences, and current mark needn't prove beyond him now back in trip.
Won a 2m1f handicap hurdle here last December off 102, and followed up in the mud at Ayr next time. Similar form in defeat subsequently, and should make a chaser for all he fell at the last on his only start in point-to-points.
Failed to win over fences for either Gordon Elliott or Tony Martin in Ireland, but did jump well on debut for new yard when fourth at Market Rasen. Shaped as if better for the run there, but tends to finish weakly in any case.
Eased up when winning by 17L in a handicap chase at Southwell on his penultimate outing, and excuses when well held under a penalty (struck into), so could well bounce back, for all he's up a further 3lb since then.
Still a maiden after 14 races, and although he'd run creditably to finish second on four consecutive outings in handicap hurdles, that run came to and end when last of 5 after a break here recently. Switches to fences now, and needs to bounce back.
Forecasts
Charmant (11/8), Black Art (5/2), Cillian's Well (9/2), Red Ochre (13/2), Dallas Cowboy (12/1)
BLACK ART appeals most with the return to 2m and decent ground in his favour, and it would be a surprise if he wasn't at least as good over fences as he was as a hurdler. Charmant can give him most to do, although Cillian's Well is best not judged on his latest start when getting struck into.
