Dual course winner here over 2m½f. Decent effort when last seen over hurdles at Stratford in August. Cheekpieces on. Each-way chance, but more needed for the win.
Improved on his hurdles form for David O'Meara when tried for the first time over them by this trainer, Initial mark probably fair and may step up again.
Won novices' handicap chase here in June, when 3lb lower. On a 15-race losing run over hurdles since sole success and has not won a handicap. More needed.
Irish Flat winner for Dermot Weld. Some hurdling ability, but yet to win. Beaten 8l from this mark on handicap debut on his penultimate start. Unexposed and can't be ruled out, but more needed.
Returned from a year off to handicap hurdles at Uttoxeter and Southwell last week. Escapes penalty for the latter, which was an improved effort. May be more to come.
79-rated over middle distances on the Flat. Ran well on hurdles debut at Perth, but not quite as good at Bangor when dropped to a similar trip latest. Initial mark looks fair. Could be involved.
27-race maiden under both codes. Has run well enough in two of his last three runs in this discipline. Latest effort (handicap debut) was below par, and he may need further help from the assessor.
Returned short break/wind surgery with improved effort at Stratford last time. Initial mark looks fair. Improvement would probably put him into the reckoning.
Forecasts
Mauricio (11/4), Jacbequick (4/1), My Brother (9/2), Ezanak (5/1), Master Of Finance (6/1), Salto Chisco (8/1), Highway Star (16/1), Vanderbilt (33/1)
An interesting contest. My Brother could do better than last time and could go close from this mark, while Highway Star also looks feasibly treated and merits respect. Neither Ezanak nor Jacbequick are ruled out, but the unpenalised MAURICIO may be capable of following up his recent success.
- Mauricio
- My Brother
- Highway Star
