Horse A-Z
1
Horse silk
12/1
Full brother to the useful 3m hurdler Applesolutely, which also gives an idea that he might find this too sharp a test on debut. First runner for yard in a bumper and best watched.
2
Horse silk
16/1
Half-brother to 3m hurdles winner Maureen's Star, and will want further than this in time, fourth on only start in an Irish point-to-point but yard are 16% with their bumper runners here and are always to be given respect.
Irish raider, cost £34,000 at stores sales in Ireland last year and pedigree nice mix of speed/stamina. Davy Russell a very eyecatching booking and likely to be well fancied here.
4
Horse silk
16/1
Cost £26,000 at stores sales last year, is a half-brother to modest winning 3m hurdler Over My Head but yard 2-5 with their bumper runners here and he has to be of interest on that statistic alone.
€37,000 purchase at sales last year, full brother to a bumper winner in The Mighty Milan but yard 0-10 in bumpers here and may be one that needs more time.
Half-brother to winning 3m hurdler Crucial Role (that was also trained by Henry Daly) and some hope to be taken from the pedigree but yard tend to let theirs find their own feet in these events, and others may be quicker.
€30,000 purchase at stores sales last year, bred to have a bit more speed than a few of these and made a reasonable debut in Perth bumper last month, although that doesn't look strong form. Others make more appeal.
8
Horse silk
11/2
€40,000 purchase at sales last year, half-brother to bumper/hurdles winner Daisy's Gift (who won on debut) and yard are 3-11 in bumpers on these shores when they bring one over. Of great interest, especially if the money comes.

Tel'art171
Age: 4|  Weight: 11-0| J: D A Jacob| T: B Pauling| BF
11/4
Cost €44,000 at stores last year and bred to be useful, made a perfectly solid debut at Warwick in May on ground that might have been quick enough for him and looks a likely improver today.
10
Horse silk
20/1
Bred to have some speed (plenty of sprint winners in the family) and yard have a solid 15% strike rate in bumpers, so has a bit going for him here and should be shortlisted.
Should be up to winning a race or two over hurdles in time but yard not known for winners in this sphere, and others make a bit more appeal today.

Forecasts

Epalo De La Thinte (2/1), Tel'art (11/4), Present Chief (11/2), Jimmy The Digger (10/1), Apple Mack (12/1), Heresthething (14/1), Footloose (16/1), Armattiekan (16/1), Weapons Out (20/1), Mint Gold (25/1), Our Rockstar (66/1)

Verdict

As ever, the betting market is likely to provide the biggest clues, especially as to the chances of Present Chief, with the yard often trying to land a touch with bumper horses that then go straight off to the sales afterwards. Tel'art and Weapons Out both make plenty of appeal coming from yards with decent bumper records but Davy Russell comes here for just the one ride on EPALO DE LA THINTE and the hint should be taken.
  1. Epalo De La Thinte
  2. Present Chief
  3. Weapons Out
