Finished in midfield on his debut in a decent York novice over 1m offering something to work on for the future. Should be suited by this extra distance and open to further improvement.
Now switches to the turf having made a recent debut on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton over this sort of trip. Showed ability on that occasion despite running green and being poorly placed; not knocked around and should progress.
His two runs so far have marked him down as one who will need some time and possibly even a greater test than he will get here. By the way he's been campaigned he'll be of more interest in handicaps over further once he has a mark.
His introduction over 1m2f at Goodwood can only be described as a considerate one and he confirmed the impression that he's one for next year on his second outing. Not dangerous in either outing and handicaps beckon as a three-year-old.
Was in need of the experience on his Brighton debut (ran green; left poorly placed) and the 7f there was barely a stiff enough test. Stepped up to 1m last time he came on for his debut but still looked as though there was improvement to come.
Would be surprising not to see his trainer represented in this and he's been steadily progressive in his three runs so far. Looks to relish a trip but may have found the heavy ground too much of a test last time; has potential and a leading chance.
One of the less likely types having missed the break on his debut and run very green over 1m at Haydock. 50/1 and always behind there he's probably best watched in this stepping up in trip.
There were excuses for his poor second run (ground too firm; raced close to strong pace) and he's better judged on his debut effort at Carlisle (1m, heavy). Really caught the eye on that occasion finishing 4th in a race where most showed promise.
Only cost €2,000 as a foal and with the stable rarely having juvenile runners he's best left alone here having shown very little on his debut over 7f.
Offered little on her first start (slow away) over 6f on good ground and didn't show anything more on her next outing where again she was slow away. Started at 250/1 last time and likely to be a similar price to win this.
With an official mark of 45 it's hard to see her getting near the principles here having already run seven times; well beaten on every occasion for the most part. Has one standout effort to her name but even a repeat would not make her of interest.
Forecasts
Island Jungle (5/4), Mister Chiang (3/1), Dark Lochnagar (5/1), Oak Park (7/1), Al Suil Eile (9/1), Edmond Dantes (14/1), Earl Of Harrow (50/1), My Strong Man (66/1), Singe Du Nord (100/1), Rodney After Dave (100/1), Dance Mover (150/1)
One trainer who excels with staying juveniles is Mark Johnston and he’ll be keen to win this event named after the fine stayer that he trained for all his career. MISTER CHIANG gives him a fine chance of doing that as he looks to be a stamina-laden sort who may just appreciate this better ground that he now runs on. Island Jungle is steadily progressing and looks as though this sort of trip will suit him as it will Oak Park whose debut effort if repeated would give him a real chance to put behind him a poor second run. Keith Dalgleish has won this before and his Dark Lochnagar showed ability on his AW debut and should progress making his first turf appearance.
- Mister Chiang
- Oak Park
- Island Jungle
