Runner-up in two maiden hurdles last season at Navan and Killarney, including chasing home subsequent Grade 1-winning novice Mengli Khan. Recent Flat run to blow away cobwebs and surely strong claims in this field.
Three-time winner on the Flat, has shaped well in maiden hurdles (runner-up last twice) and entitled to hold similar aspirations here.
Fairyhouse bumper winner, runner-up at odds-on on hurdles debut at the same track recently and needs to improve on that form if hoping to go one better.
Hasn't won since he was trained by Mark Johnston back in 2016. Record is 0-5 over hurdles previously and appears likely to aim for place money at best.
Poor so far over timber, including when unseating rider last time at Punchestown and can only be watched for now.
Moderate third of 13 in Fairyhouse maiden hurdle (2m, good) a fortnight ago, more needed to improve on that finishing place.
Definite Article gelding, beaten wide margin on debut at Tipperary (2m, good) this month. Learning curve to continue here on probability.
A £70,000 five-year-old, Samum gelding. He's a half-brother to three winners, including bumper winner Neck Or Nothing. Point-to-point winner in May, debuts for Henry De Bromhead here and positive jockey booking helps.
Poor in bumper and beaten 24L on hurdles bow at Punchestown (2m, good) this month. Easier to look elsewhere at this stage.
Mare improved on second start over timber when good second of 13 in novice hurdle at Roscommon (2m, good) earlier this month. Place claims once more and may build on that run.
Forecasts
Sometime Soon (2/1), Edelpour (9/4), Notebook (5/1), Reaver (6/1), Turbine (10/1), Lucky Phil (25/1), Peace Party (33/1), Ishyaboi (33/1), Ballinlongig (100/1), No Show Jones (100/1)
EDELPOUR achieved enough in two hurdles runs last season to warrant serious consideration for this prize and, with a recent Flat run to assist with fitness, the son of Mastercraftsman looks the one to beat. Reaver, Lucky Phil and Sometime Soon have placed over timber already and should hold similar aspirations now while point-to-point winner Notebook is worth keeping an eye on with Rachel Blackmore up in the Gigginstown silks.
