Looked as though he would come on for his recent reappearance in a Wetherby novices' hurdle (2m3½f, good). Same mark here as his last run over fences, when falling in front at Becher's in the Grand National. Should make another bold bid.
Scored at Cartmel (3m1½f, soft) in August and then again at Bangor (2m4½f, good) last time. Up 5lb for the latter. Not always consistent, but unexposed and not ruled out.
Produced a career-best to win for the first time over fences in just his third attempt at Bangor (3m, good) last time. 5lb rise looks fair and he looks sure to go well again now stepped up in grade.
Put together decisive wins at Market Rasen and Bangor in August (both 3m, good). Now a stone higher than the latter. Looked as though he might go close from this mark before taking wrong course latest. Should give a good account.
Forecasts
Dandy Dan (6/5), Red Giant (5/2), Lofgren (5/1), I Just Know (11/2)
A fascinating and trappy-looking race where the admirable I Just Know should make a good attempt to make all again, but that could set things up for DANDY DAN, who looks on the upgrade and can underline that here. Neither Lofgren nor Red Giant are exposed yet, and therefore can't be ruled out.
