1-19 over hurdles, but in reasonable enough shape in Ireland; always handy and kept on when headed to finish just under 2L second of 14 at Wexford (2m4f, yielding) in September; first start this side of the Irish Sea.

A reasonably talented novice for Nicky Richards in early 2017 (2m Ayr winner), but has laboured over the past 18 months or so falling to a career low mark; fared better in retained cheekpieces at Perth (2m4f) in May; not discounted.

Appeared to be thrown in off his current hurdles mark when a smooth 6L winner over 2m1f here last week (escapes a penalty); well-in with an 11lb rise imminent, but races on the inner track today and has stamina to prove.

Nine-race maiden; finished strongly when just 1L behind today's rival Samtu at Kelso (2m5f, good) latest; of some interest off a 1lb higher mark despite facing a slight drop back in trip; fairly treated on balance.

Handicapped to have a say based on his peak efforts, but this Sedgefield specialist appears to be massively on the decline nowadays; 66/1 when a never on terms tenth of 15 at Hexham (3m) in September.

Verdict

All that glitters isn't necessarily gold, and there are reasons to take on the very well treated recent course winner Zabeel Star. He fair bolted up for Dale Irving on the outer hurdles course last week, and without a penalty (due an 11lb rise) this race was always going to be an obvious target. However, this inner hurdles course is completely different, and although sharp in nature, the McLintock-trained runner still has an extra two furlongs to cover. Alternatives include the unexposed Spin The Coin, the reasonably treated Glingerside, and the Rose Dobbin-trained PERMISSION GRANTED who took a sizeable step forward at Kelso (form linked with Samtu).
