The not entirely straightforward Forthefunofit will undoubtedly be popular with punters with Barry Geraghty in the saddle, and this vastly experienced rider might be able to coax more out of this Jonjo O'Neill-trained runner. Lord Ballim is a three-time Carlisle winner who warmed up for this race with a hurdles spin at Sedgefield, whilst the thoroughly likeable Carrigdhoun (won this in 2013) ran a fair race here last week off an 11 month absence. Ange Des Malberaux (3-4 for Dan Skelton) has stamina to prove but merits respect, but the preferred option is the returned to fences Catterick winner SHARP RESPONSE.
