In form individual who gave it his best shot last time against a better handicapped horse. Has his conditions but also shoulders a big weight for a small horse.
Winning French hurdler debuts for new yard. Has experience over fences but fell on latest start. Does not look that well-handicapped judged on his cross-Channel form and his Cheltenham run, but still worth a look in the market.
His Lingfield second to Crievhill would be good enough to take this. However, his jumping deteriorated in the spring and he needs to prove his confidence is restored.
All out to land a C&D gamble last time on first run following wind surgery. At first glance a 6lb rise looks harsh, but he clouted the last when in command and may have more to offer.
Hard to believe he got another hike in the weights for finishing second in one of the worst Class 3 races you'll ever find last time. Stable have done well get two wins out of him and he is vulnerable if any of his rivals run to form.
Holds Mercian King on May form but that rival would appear to arrive in much better shape. Yet to produce a big run off a mark higher than 107 so something to prove here.
Sprang a 33/1 surprise when eased down to land this contest 12 months ago following a similar layoff. 5lb lower here and every chance of a repeat.
Forecasts
Mercian King (5/2), Brave Dancing (9/2), I'dliketheoption (5/1), Peppay Le Pugh (11/2), Truckers Highway (11/2), Get Rhythm (7/1), Modeligo (16/1)
Brave Dancing is an interesting recruit from France whose chance is not obvious but he is in good hands and any market confidence would be intriguing. Truckers Highway probably has as much to do as when winning this last year, but Get Rhythm lost his way over fences when last seen and it remains to be seen if a break has restored his confidence. I'dliketheoption faces an easier task than last time although he shoulders a big burden for a relatively small horse. Pepay Le Pugh makes no appeal and Modeligo looks fully weighted. MERCIAN KING clearly improved for his wind op last time and would have won more cosily but for a mistake at the last when in command.
- Mercian King
- Get Rhythm
- Truckers Highway
