Four-year-old scored over extended mile at Wolverhampton last time out, carries a 6lb penalty for that success and also must prove himself at this track where it has failed to happen in the past.

Scored earlier this month at Wolverhampton over an extended mile, gone well since back there under quick turnaround. Carries 6lb penalty now but remains on the shortlist.

Winless in all 15 career starts and starting to look regressive now, ran poor race here in July when last spotted.

On a 17-run losing streak that dates back to 2015. Returns from 291-day off for new yard and safest option is to watch for now.

Has had his problems, missing all of 2017, but Wolverhampton second over this sort of trip in May says a race of this nature could be his. Poor on most recent start however.

Sole win in 22 starts came here last month over 7f, held both starts since though and must prove he wants the longer trip.

Mare hasn't scored since 2015 (16 runs) but she was only just denied over this C&D last month, getting collared late on with the front two clear of the rest. Needs considering on that evidence.

Couple of recent starts have been lacklustre, though perhaps didn't get a great trip last time at Wolverhampton. Up in distance, has plenty to find on form.

19-race maiden, not exactly threatening to break duck in two Hamilton starts since joining this yard. Getting towards basement rating now back on the AW, at least.

Fast Company filly is a thrice-raced maiden. She did show more at Wolverhampton this month over 7f, but remains with improvement to find now sent handicapping for the first time.

A 14-race maiden, he's been tried over a variety of trips recently, with modest results. Drops right down in distance now, has something to prove on form.

Good third at Catterick (7f, good) latest, though suspicion remains that would be the mare's best trip. Intersting jockey booking here.

Forecasts

Safrani (11/8), Allux Boy (3/1), Clary (8/1), Silk Mill Blue (12/1), My Valentino (12/1), Mossy's Lodge (14/1), Twiggy (14/1), Strategic (14/1), Dark Confidant (20/1), Sunhill Lad (25/1), Miss Bates (33/1), Grand Company (33/1), Splash Of Verve (33/1), Peak Hill (66/1)

Verdict

Safrani has a recent Wolverhampton win (and subsequent third) to boast and should give his running despite a 6lb penalty. He's preferred to Allux Boy, a winner last time out at Wolverhampton himself. He has something to prove back at this venue under his penalty. CLARY produced her best effort for a while when only just run down over C&D last time and merits a chance off a pound higher in this basement grade. Mossy's Lodge and Splash Of Verve are also worthy of being considered.
  1. Clary
  2. Safrani
  3. Splash Of Verve
