2m Flat winner. Well worth another try over this trip in this discipline (last of five on only previous attempt). 16lb higher than sole hurdles win, but matched that effort last time and is not ruled out.
Grade 3 hurdle winner as a novice in 2015, but has not won since. Stays 3m. Has not been as good as he was in five starts since a lengthy layoff. Can only watch.
2m2f Kilbeggan maiden hurdle winner (good) who has bettered that on all three starts since. Same mark today and has each-way claims again, but more needed for another win.
Put in a couple of decent efforts over fences last month, from a similar mark. Has not seen much action over hurdles, but if he can transfer that chasing ability back to this sphere he couldn't be ruled out.
Both his wins have been on testing ground. Went up 12lb for the last of those, which was 11-months ago. Held on only run since, but not a bad effort considering his time off the track. Return to this trip positive. Could go well.
Has been in good form over hurdles this year, winning three times, including at Gowran Park (2m4f, good) last time. Still improving and should make a good fist of defying his 7lb rise.
Softer ground and step up in trip possibly to blame for his defeat last time. Had previously scored at Sligo (2m, good) in August. Still has to prove he gets this far, but that is more likely on decent ground. Not ruled out.
Has improved on previous efforts in her last two starts, both on a sound/fast surface at around 2m. Same mark again here. Has a bit to prove over this trip, but shapes as if she could see it out on good ground. Claims.
0-19, but has run some good races in defeat, including last time when ½L second at Gowran Park (2m4f, good). Up 2lb for that, so more needed, but each-way claims.
0-11, but has some respectable form to his name and can't rule him out on an each-way basis from this mark.
0-11, but in better form lately. Up 1lb for a 2½L third at Ballinrobe (2m4½f, soft/heavy) last time. Not ruled out.
Staying winner on the Flat when trained in France. Not a huge amount of encouragement from recent efforts and probably best watched.
Forecasts
Arctic Light (5/1), Robin On The Hill (11/2), Balinaboola Steel (11/2), Cooldine Bog (6/1), Padraic O Conaire (6/1), Like An Open Book (8/1), Red Pearl (10/1), Broder (10/1), Smithscorner (14/1), Moylisha Tim (18/1), Olive D'Haguenet (20/1), Peacocks Secret (25/1)
Red Pearl arrives in good form and should be thereabouts once again, while Ballinaboola Steel and Robin On The Hill could both get competitive. Arctic Light, Like An Open Book and Peacocks Secret are others to consider, but preference is for PADRAIC O CONAIRE, who is still on an upward curve and can go well after another 7lb rise.
- Padraic O Conaire
- Red Pearl
- Arctic Light
