Has two Hexham wins to her name of late the latest by a wide margin (some doubt about the value of the form) and finished last of five here last time over this trip. Previous course winner but now features on a stiff enough mark.
Progressive sort who has run well in both handicap starts so far scoring at the second attempt in April at Kempton (2m5f). Has to cope with an absence and an 8lb rise in the weights but has run well fresh before; travels strongly.
Novice hurdle winner who ran his best race when second (to Sam's Gunner) in a competitive novices' handicap at Sandown (outstayed; wore first-time cheekpieces). Failed to match that form back in novice company last time; now off a career-high mark.
Dual winner at Exeter last year over shorter trips on testing ground both times and failed to show his best when last seen in a competitive novice handicap at Sandown. Still looks on a stiff mark in quicker conditions (not sure to suit).
Dual hurdles winner (scored on first two hurdles starts) who was fitted with blinkers for his handicap debut in the Fred Winter at the Festival. Dropped 4lb from that run and returns having had wind surgery from a yard going well over a longer trip.
For all that's she's been consistent she has been expensive to follow having gone close off this mark over C&D in April. Still looked as though she was struggling a little for pace on her most recent run and could do with a return to 3m.
Bumper and hurdles winner who showed improved form (jumped much better than before) when winning at Fontwell in February on his 4th hurdles start. Now makes his handicap debut off a reasonable mark off a break; has won when fresh.
Rattled up three wins last year (June-September) over hurdles on good ground but has failed to match that level of form so far in 2018. Placed last time but was 26L behind stablemate Card Game and work to do with that one even at the revised weights.
From a yard that are in good form he's run with credit of late (given plenty to do last time out) he may find this trip a little on the short side. Still 11lb above his last winning mark there look to be others who are better treated in this field.
Forecasts
Jersey Bean (10/3), North Hill (7/2), Show On The Road (9/2), Black Mischief (11/2), Dentley De Mee (6/1), Just Milly (9/1), Solo Saxophone (12/1), Card Game (25/1), Sweet Holly (28/1)
Several of these may well prove to be competitive this year and look as though they can progress further and BLACK MISCHIEF heads that list (good to see the Fry yard have a winner this week) and he’s run well fresh before. Jersey Bean makes his handicap debut and providing his jumping holds up he looks a danger along with Solo Saxophone who has had wind surgery and hails from a yard maintaining their level of summer form. Several of the others look off stiff marks now and may not be suited by the quicker conditions.
- Black Mischief
- Jersey Bean
- Solo Saxophone
