Ridden more positively when rebounding from a dreadful run to score at Fontwell. His Flat form would indicate he should be better than we have seen, but also that there must be a stamina doubt if there is any give in the ground.

Modest Flat maiden representing a yard that sprang a 50/1 surprise with another juvenile debutant last week. Doubtful lightning can strike twice.

Strongly fancied for both starts over hurdles but looked a difficult ride last time at Perth. Return to a left-handed track should help.

Wore blinkers when landing a modest maiden in the French provinces prior to joining current handler for €46,000. Headgear dispensed with and makes his hurdling debut at an undemanding level.

25/1
Sprang a 25/1 surprise at Newcastle in February and has joined current stable for 22,000 gns. Has a tendency to pull hard and and best watched until judging whether the hood has a positive effect.

100/1
Well held in all Flat starts and difficult to give him any serious chance on what we have seen.
7
Horse silk
22/1
Unresponsive on last few runs under both codes and impossible to recommend until producing a performance to suggest he can be trusted.

Needs To Be Seen43
Age: 3|  Weight: 10-12| J: P J Brennan| T: J Ryan
7/1
Showed some promise on the Flat prior to being acquired for £70,000. Earned a Flat rating of 78 which puts him in the mix if his jumping is up to scratch.
9
Horse silk
33/1
Well held on all four flat starts and now tackles hurdles for the first time. Needs to step up considerably on what she has done on the level to be involved.

Forecasts

Idilico (11/8), Brandy James (5/2), Bodes Well (4/1), Needs To Be Seen (7/1), Mercer's Troop (22/1), Jetstream (25/1), Fading Icon (33/1), Alliteration (66/1), Keynote (100/1)

Verdict

There are serious doubts about all in this. Bodes Well won nicely enough last time when a change of tactics worked admirably. Whether he can reproduce that here on softer ground under a penalty is a question that makes him vulnerable enough to oppose with IDILICO. Ian Williams debutant landed a French 1m2f maiden on soft ground so, if taking to this new discipline, would be hard to beat. Brandy James may do better now returning to a left-handed track but, having looked so difficult last time, he is hard to recommend.
  1. Idilico
  2. Bodes Well
  3. Brandy James
