Luckless run continued when brought down in handicap chase at Galway (2m2f, good to soft) 8 days ago, now having failed to around in three of last four starts. Reverts to hurdles and may need confidence rebuilt.

In cracking form since joining Gordon Elliott, would be six wins no the spin over hurdles and on the Flat bar losing a 2m Listowel handicap hurdle in the stewards' room last month (impeded runner-up). Has won again since at Clonmel over 2m4f.

Finished good second of 12 in handicap hurdle at Listowel (2m4f, good to soft), last month, running on well at the finish. Merits consideration.

Modest efforts over fences this summer since scoring in beginners contest at Kilbeggan in May. Looks opposable but any market move should be monitored.

Not far behind Kuiper Belt at Clonmel last time (1½L fourth of five), enjoy a 6lb pull at the weight with that rival now and entitled to give this a decent crack.

Winner over this trip at Wexford in July, doesn't appear to have stayed longer journey in two runs since. On a fair mark, but those two recent runs pose questions given how quickly he threw in the towel.

Forecasts

Slippery Serpent (2/1), Steel Wave (3/1), Kuiper Belt (7/2), Roi De Dubai (11/2), Court Tycoon (10/1), Teacher's Pet (20/1)

Verdict

KUIPER BELT has been on quite the roll since joining Gordon Elliott and would be chasing a seven-timer here bar a disqualification last month at Listowel. He has since bounced back over this trip at Clonmel and looks sure to prove hard to topple once again for the champion jockey here. Roi De Dubai has a chance at these weights on their Clonmel form while Slippery Serpent was an excellent second at Listowel last time and needs considering.
  1. Kuiper Belt
  2. Roi De Dubai
  3. Slippery Serpent
