Was awarded a race here over 7f (good) last month. Carries a penalty for that, but early days and may well improve again for this step up in trip. Claims.

Showed a good attitude when scoring on debut at Doncaster (1m, good to firm) in August. Similar effort when placed under a penalty last time. Bit more needed, but should again be thereabouts.

66-1 and well held on debut at Goodwood recently. Should improve for that, but can only watch this time.

7-1 and stayed on strongly for a close second on debut at Chelmsford (7f, AW) last month. That was a very encouraging effort and he looks likely to go very close with a repeat or better.

5-1 on debut, when running green and being beaten over 6L at Kempton (7f, AW) recently. Should be better for that experience, so improvement anticipated.

Half-brother to a French 1m2½f AW winner, out of a 1m1f-2m winner. Has to be a bit of concern about him sporting headgear on debut and this is a tough first assignment. Probably one to watch.

11-1 and ran green on debut when always in rear and beaten 19½L. Pedigree suggests that he could do much better than that, so don't rule out significant improvement.

Half-brother to four middle distance winners, out of a middle distance winner. Pedigree suggests that he is likely to do better next year and beyond, with a bit of experience under his belt, but worth a market check nonetheless.

25-1 and never a threat on debut at Newmarket last month. In very good hands, so improvement anticipated this time.

Nice enough pedigree, being half-brother to Irish 6f Group 2 and 7f two-year-old winner Probably. Stable quieter than usual at present and he may be one to watch on debut.

Forecasts

Global Heat (11/8), Travel On (3/1), Faro Angel (7/2), Laafy (9/1), Quintada (10/1), Pour Me A Drink (25/1), Wedding Blue (50/1), Land Of Winter (50/1), Mosharakka (50/1), Edmond Dantes (100/1)

Verdict

An interesting opener, where GLOBAL HEAT is taken to step up on a decent debut and break his duck this time. Previous winners Faro Angel and Quintada are much respected under their penalties, while Laafy, Mosharakka and Travel On could all come on a fair bit for their debut runs and it would not surprise if any of them were to mount a challenge.
  1. Global Heat
  2. Quintada
  3. Laafy
