28-race Flat maiden; hasn't run over hurdles since finishing well down the field (tailed off) at Fontwell (2m1f+) in November 2017, dropped 7lb since.
Still a maiden over hurdles (0-5), but has performed with credit in most starts (2m-2m4f), and is also effective with cut; best effort so far when beaten 1½L by All Is Good at Hereford in January.
Won back-to-back races over C&D in May (good), but the handicapper thwarted his momentum thereafter; remains 7lb above his last winning mark, but helpfully is reunited with Paddy Brennan.
Raced sparingly in recent years (twice a winner at short odds for Tom George in the spring of 2016); handicap mark easing but off the track since July (pulled up); can the switch to Alan King help revive?
Shown a decent level of form in Ireland for Thomas Mullins, and makes his debut on these shores today; probably most effective beyond 2m, as illustrated when winning over 2m2f at Leopardstown (yielding) on Boxing Day.
Enjoyed a productive month so far, and was back to winning ways at Uttoxeter (2m, good to soft) last week when comfortably beating Bumble Bay by 7L; respected under a 7lb penalty.
Left Brian Ellison for £20,000 in May, not long after winning a 2m1f Sedgefield maiden hurdle (good), but looks to be regressing ever so slightly in five subsequent starts for this trainer (hence the application of a hood).
Has shown ability for various trainers including Susan Corbett (bumpers) and the late Alan Swinbank (hurdles, AW and fences); well beaten on return from a lengthy absence (stable debut) on the Flat at Epsom (1m4f) in August.
Former Godolphin inmate (bought for £22,000); has come to life over hurdles for David Pipe winning two of his five starts, most latterly over 2m (good) at Worcester last month; 6lb higher, every chance if in the same mood (not guaranteed).
Fairly useful dual purpose performer for the late Alan Swinbank, but hasn't been seen in competitive action since January when finishing a well beaten seventh of ten (2m2f+ heavy); stable debut (cost £5,000 in May).
Three-time hurdles winner (2m-2m4f), including over C&D (12/1) in April; 4lb above that last winning mark, but relatively modest since including when well held by Aldrin (Worcester) latest.
Four-time minor Flat winner in France; 0-4 over hurdles, including when beaten 7L by Shining Romeo on handicap debut over C&D (soft) in February; first start for 236 days.
Forecasts
Third Estate (2/1), Dexcite (7/2), Snapdragon Fire (9/2), Aldrin (7/1), Sparky Stowaway (12/1), Dyliev (16/1), Stonecoldsoba (20/1), Jamacho (20/1), Ardamir (50/1), Stuccodor (50/1), Virnon (100/1), Deep Resolve (100/1)
A race which features a couple of C&D winners, namely Stuccodor and Stonecoldsoba, with the former of more interest now reunited with Paddy Brennan. However, a likelier solution lies elsewhere with the in-form Third Estate very much respected under a 7lb penalty for a win at Uttoxeter last week, and Sparky Stowaway a notable new recruit for Paul Webber. Nevertheless, we'll take a chance with ALDRIN who bounced back to form at Worcester last month, and has been given a near three week break by his trainer David Pipe since.
- Aldrin
- Third Estate
- Sparky Stowaway
