Infrequent winner (just 6 victories from 55 starts) but operates well enough under these conditions and will find this drop in grade a help. Cheekpieces retained and ran well enough at Newton Abbot last time to think he has a part to play here.

Tends to front run/race prominently but can throw the towel in if things aren't going his way. Trip and ground ideal and a danger if allowed too much rope, but percentage call is to oppose him on current form.

Has refound some of his better form on his last two starts, game winner of a chase at Warwick last time out and with his hurdles mark 2lb lower, looks very well treated here. Yet to actually win over hurdles but golden opportunity to put that right.

Not shown a lot in eight starts so far and although his third at Market Rasen last December wasn't terrible, it came under different ground conditions that he'll face today. Early days though, so could improve, and needs a market check.

First start for new yard, who often do well with these long-standing maidens, usually fishing a win or two out of them down the line. Hardly looks well treated today so may need to wait another day, but one of the more interesting ones all the same.

Didn't show a lot first five starts but a little better when blinkers were applied at Warwick on final start, fading late (over 25f) and this trip might suit better. Absence to overcome but likely to do better at some point.

Hasn't shown much in ten rules starts and not done any better in point-to-points this year, so has an awful lot to prove. Plugged on for a distant fourth last time but needs much more today.

Just one win in 18 starts is offputting but keeps threatening to double his total and has run respectably this summer. Had a break, which might help, but ideally could do with a bit more rain. Passed over today.

Tale of woe in the main so far, and although sent off favourite for a couple of Irish point-to-points he was well beaten in those too. Hard to make much of a case for.

Some pretty awful looking form figures but first run for new yard today, who do get wins out of these pointers, and very good conditional booked. Worth a look in the market on that alone, as he's on a basement mark in a moderate race.

Two wins in 49 starts is enough of a start point to put you off, last three efforts pretty dismal but his ½l second at Southwell in June would offer hope off just 1lb higher. Very risky proposition though.

Would eat these for breakfast on old form but there's a reason his mark is dropping as quickly as it is, and that's because he was showing next to nothing when last seen. No great record fresh either, and not hard to look elsewhere.

It's been low-grade stuff he's been running in this autumn but he is at least running with a degree of consistency and looks ready for a step back up in trip. One win in 39 starts is a concern but might be able to get among the places, at worst.

Forecasts

Arty Campbell (11/4), Jonagold (6/1), Stonemadforspeed (13/2), Ciaoifsin (8/1), Way Of The World (17/2), Bronzallure (11/1), Armorous (12/1), Kilcaragh Boy (12/1), Sergio (14/1), Ring Eye (25/1), Daveron (33/1), Buckeye Shan (40/1), Chance It (66/1)

Verdict

A bit of market support for Armourous would make him interesting, as Tom Weston often gets a win or two out of these point-to-pointers off low weights in this sort of handicap, but for the time being preference is for ARTY CAMPBELL, who has a decent record in this grade (two wins and four places from eight starts) and will find this easier than some of the tasks he's been taking on. Jonagold has yet to score over hurdles but has been given a decent opportunity here and looks the danger. Kilcaragh Bay could reward each-way support.
