Winner of two of his 10 chase starts, including the Grade 3 Klairon Davis novice chase at Navan in December. Open to plenty of improvement and recent hurdle run could have him fighting fit here.
Two from nine over the larger obstacles and finished behind Tombstone on no less than three occasions this calendar year. Winner last time out at Ballinrobe and dangerous if in same form.
Distance winner of a Tipperary handicap chase in July. Running well in defeat over hurdles and fences since and holds strong place claims in first-time cheekpieces.
Has shot up the handicap after three wins from his last five starts, and took the Ulster National at Downpatrick in March with plenty in hand. Well held since but market should be informative here.
Nine-year-old of fairly modest ability. Has fallen in two of five starts under rules for current trainer. Most recently well in a four runner race at Gowran Park earlier this month. Others preferred.
Forecasts
Tombstone (1/1), Montalbano (6/4), Poormans Hill (6/1), Oighear Dubh (14/1), Redwood Castle (125/1)
TOMBSTONE should be able to stamp his authority on last time out winner Montalbano with his slicker jumping under jockey Davy Russell to land the prize despite giving weight to his rivals. Poormans Hill should follow the pair home.
- Tombstone
- Montalbano
- Poormans Hill
