Good effort here in August over fences (third, beaten less than a length) but typically not as good since when over timber at Kilbeggan (2m3½f, good). Yet to win over these obstacles.

Consistent mare but has proven expensive to follow for favourite backers being turned over three times last winter when market leader. Also won a Clonmel maiden over 2m (heavy) in February 2017. Below best on return at Galway last month.

Former Flat performer for Pascal Bary in France before winning on stable debut in a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle in February. Close third a month later at Limerick in what now looks an ordinary contest. Watch betting on return.

Forecasts

Chambord Du Lys (6/5), Silver Star (5/2), Cooldine Bog (5/1), Commentariolus (6/1), Leap Dearg (25/1)

Verdict

Chambord Du Lys is consistent but has proved expensive for punters to follow. She travelled well enough at Galway on her return behind some better-fancied stablemates, and might just have needed the run and there is surely better to come. French import Commentariolus won on debut for Gordon Elliott in the spring but, ceding race fitness, needs to post an improved effort back from a break and instead it might be worth siding with stablemate SILVER STAR, who keeps improving since joining the yard and has the champion jockey for company after a good third at Navan last time.
  1. Silver Star
  2. Chambord Du Lys
  3. Commentariolus
