Nothing positive to report in bumper efforts, including here a fortnight ago, and only previous try over timber saw him pulled up at Bellewstown (3m, good) in July. Plenty to find it seems.
Runner-up effort in 2m2½f good-ground bumper here in July easily the best of efforts so far in that sphere or over timber. Poor at Clonmel in one spin since, back over jumps with improvement to locate.
Second foal, half-brother to fair hurdler North Hill (stayed 2m6f). Failed to complete in two of three point-to-point starts.
Long-standing maiden in both codes (0-10 over timber), showed better attitude and improved form when battling second in 2m good-ground handicap at Roscommon this month. Needs to build on that.
Fame And Glory gelding, bought for €21,000 as a foal and £100,000 as a three-year-old. Dam a sister to a 3m hurdle winner. Slipped-up when beaten on debut in Punchestown bumper in April. Back for hurdling bow, yard in fine form, likely better ahead.
Cost €7,200 as a three-year-old, first foal, dam a modest 1m1f winner. Positive jockey booking and market may reveal more.
Placed in all three starts over timber, goes up in trip here and get an array of new headgear, should be right in the thick of things again.
Fair effort at Roscommon on hurdling bow over 2m (fourth), for that ties in well with Free Ranger and should improve for the experience.
Maiden on the Flat, tailed off a fortnight ago over C&D on hurdling bow and hard to make a case for now.
0-7 over timber now but has threatened on more than one occasion at Sligo from 2m-2m4f, not ruled out on first start here if putting best foot forward. Watch betting.
Some promising efforts over timber in first three starts but latest Wexford run (2m, good to yielding) was disappointing having come in for market support, must bounce back.
Forecasts
Free Ranger (6/4), A Place Apart (9/2), Joe The Crow (11/2), Adulterated (11/2), Ar Eagla Na Heagla (8/1), Misty Mountain (10/1), Autumn Berry (25/1), Greenandwhitearmy (33/1), Rising (66/1), Hells Angel (66/1), Arizengo (100/1)
FREE RANGER has shown consistency in three hurdling starts so far (placed in each) and was perhaps unlucky not to be close las time. He sports an array of new headgear now and, up in trip, can open his account. Joe The Crow wasn't far behind the selection on his jumping bow last time and should improve while Adulterated, sporting a hood, is the sort to come good for Gigginstown after a summer off.
